00:06Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're looking at the hardest assassination targets and bosses in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

00:13There will be spoilers ahead for the entire game, you've been warned.

00:33Oda Nobunaga.

00:34Who are you?

00:44I am Igor.

00:48The bombastic first act of Shadows culminates in Naue finally tracking down Oda Nobunaga,

00:53whom she's been led to believe is the horseman, the leader of the shinbokfu.

00:57She's wrong, but she doesn't learn this until after already defeating Nobunaga in a duel.

01:01No small feat for a peasant girl from Iga.

01:03Because this boss fight is always played with Naue, you're going to be at a disadvantage,

01:07since she deals less damage and takes way more than Yasuke, which makes it quite challenging all around.

01:14If I die, our country will fall. Mitsuhide cannot rule it!

01:21It's also an early game fight, so you won't have as many abilities unlocked to help you out.

01:26In the end though, Yasuke intervenes and Naue fails, leaving Nobunaga to commit seppuku.

01:31Is there anything at all that one's given life does not perish?

01:40Akechi Mitsuhide

01:57This is the moment we were waiting for since the trailers, a Naue-slash-Yasuke tag team boss battle.

02:02After defeating Nobunaga, he reveals that he has no idea what the shinbokfu is,

02:07and that Naue has been tricked by his traitorous retainer, Akechi Mitsuhide.

02:11The entire second act of the game is spent picking off Mitsuhide's allies to draw him out.

02:16He's forced out of the tenchu, and sensing that the end is nigh,

02:19finally stops to fight them for real, and when we get easily the coolest fight in the entire game.

02:31Yasuke begins, and after whittling Mitsuhide down to half health,

02:35the action pauses for a second for Naue to jump in and deliver the killing blow.

02:48Besu Harumasa

02:55Another of the shinbokfu, Besu is nicknamed the Ox.

02:58You'll find him Harima where he's been building an army, ostensibly to defend his people,

03:02but in reality, using conscription to force them to serve and die for his own ambitions.

03:07His most brainwashed lieutenant, the Suno, stands in your way first and needs to be defeated by Yasuke,

03:12before you get the choice of who to go after Besu himself with once the Suno is dead.

03:22This is one instance where the game lets you go after a boss via stealth all the way,

03:26as Naue can sneak around the tricky arena and air-assassinate Besu from above.

03:30The cutscene afterwards still implies that she beat him in combat, though.

03:36Lord Unkai

03:43Eventually, you'll be invited to participate in the Terminate in Yamato,

03:47with the goal of defeating its reigning champion and freeing its organizer, Gyoji, from doing its bidding.

03:52That champion is the violent and formidable Lord Unkai, but to get to him you have to fight four other champions,

03:58each of whom has their own gimmick. Powerful attacks, poison affliction, you name it.

04:02Either Yasuke, Naue, or a mix of both can take them down.

04:12Unkai has the highest health of them all, but with enough upgrades and abilities you can trap him in a juggle.

04:17When you win, you get his Naganita as a reward and some new abilities to unlock in the Mastery Menu.

04:29Eo Andon

04:35One of the best side missions is tracking down the yokai,

04:38as seasoned paranormal investigator Mamushi asks for help solving the various reports he's received.

04:43None of the yokai are actually supernatural, with some being deluded and dangerous individuals,

04:48and others children playing harmless pranks.

04:50But then you reach the end of the quest, where Naue returns to Mamushi

04:54and finds that he's been scared to death by the only genuine yokai in the game.

05:04Shadows is significantly more grounded than its predecessors,

05:07so we really weren't expecting to meet an actual monster here.

05:10Once defeated, she disappears in a cloud of smoke,

05:13though is perhaps an easier foe to best than the vengeful Yukiona you first meet.

05:24In the end, Mamushi was wrong.

05:27Yes, yokai!

05:28Asari Nobutane

05:30When you hear the sound they make, you will know you are ready.

05:39Of all of Nobutsana's students, Asari Nobutane is the hardest.

05:43Each student is master of a different weapon,

05:45meaning you can't rely on whichever weapon is your favorite or the most heavily upgraded.

05:49You have to use the same one as them.

05:51Nobutane is easily the most difficult because he's the teppo master,

05:54though he does give you some sage advice about watching and waiting to fire.

05:58The fight is made more challenging though by the presence of explosive jars around the bamboo grove,

06:03which can easily kill you in one hit if they get detonated.

06:10Equally though, if you place your shots well,

06:12they can wipe a huge chunk from Nobutane's health bar very quickly.

06:22Sanada Masatoyo

06:34You thought that battling all of Nobutsana's students would end in a triumphant rematch with the man himself,

06:39but that's not what happens.

06:41Yasuke returns to find that Nobutsana has been murdered by Sanada Masatoyo,

06:45still reeling from his defeat at Yasuke's hand before the beginning of the game.

06:49On higher difficulties, Masatoyo can easily kill you if you make just one mistake

06:53and don't manage to dodge an unblockable attack,

06:56dealing a large amount of damage sometimes too quickly for you to heal with a ration.

07:00Stay on your toes and you'll eventually beat him,

07:02unlocking one of the best swords in the game, Crimson's Edge, for your trouble.

07:14Kimura Kei

07:20Templar Order

07:23Eventually, Yasuke learns that the men who first enslaved him were Templars,

07:27and we finally start to uncover what the Templar Order has been doing in Japan.

07:31They're attempting to raise an army of their own to conquer the country

07:34and have enlisted Kimura Kei to help recruit, building a legion of dangerous Ronin.

07:38Yasuke tracks him down and cuts through the Ronin to finally reach him in a burning abandoned pagoda for a boss battle.

07:49He's got a big health bar, and this is another rare fight with multiple phases,

07:53as he kicks Yasuke from the pagoda to fight him outside halfway through.

07:57After all that, you've eradicated a huge chapter of Templars, and you get his unique armor.

08:09Takeda Motowaki

08:11Justice in this world is the justice that we make.

08:15You head north to Wakasa to find out why this member of the Shinboku, nicknamed the Fox,

08:20has been aligning himself with violent pirates.

08:22Eventually, you learn that he's been hunting the pirates and ultimately only wants what's best for his home,

08:27but he still tries to kill whichever assassin arrives to hunt him down.

08:30With Naue, you'd better remember to dodge, and dodge a lot,

08:33because he can't take the damage he deals out, and he's a very fast swordsman.

08:42He can wipe out her whole health bar with one swing, and uses unblockable attacks exclusively.

08:47This is a fight where it's hard to recover if you get hit even once.

09:00Nunokoro

09:01Diogo?

09:02Yasuke!

09:05It was necessary. I had to set an example to the others.

09:10The final boss of the game, and one of the franchise's most detestable villains since Chesire Borja,

09:16Nunokoro is waiting for Yasuke in Tamba.

09:18After dealing with the other three Templars active in Japan,

09:21Karo knows that Yasuke is coming for him, but is so arrogant he thinks he'll survive the encounter.

09:26Of course, he won't, and tries to delay fighting Yasuke as much as possible,

09:30sending foot soldiers to try and deal with him while he runs away shouting taunts like a coward.

09:35It's very classic Assassin's Creed to have an obnoxious villain and an extended chase sequence,

09:40culminating in a genuine boss fight and a very satisfying death.
