00:00
million per annum, a colleague of mine said, Prime Minister, you have revised your figure
00:07
from 100 to 200.
00:10
I said, that's how we achieve targets.
00:14
And I'm sure, Prime Minister, I'll have your full support on this.
00:19
I want to assure you from the core of my heart that we will not compromise on quality, we
00:26
will not dither from our commitment, and we will meet your terms and conditions under
00:34
all circumstances.
00:36
And of course, we have discussed export of basmati, and you have been so kind to give
00:46
us your word of honor that whatever the discrepancy is will be removed.
00:52
And of course, you know, there was a time when Malaysian boys and girls would come and
01:01
get their education in Lahore, Karachi, and other places, King Edward Medical College,
01:10
and so on and so forth.
01:12
And today, as luck would have it, thousands of Pakistani students are now getting high-quality
01:20
education in Malaysia.
01:22
I think we are very happy about it, because this is how we are going to, through joint
01:30
collaboration and cooperation, we are going to synergize and get maximum dividends from
01:38
our efforts and from our cooperation.
01:44
Your Excellency, in defense cooperation and security cooperation, we are absolutely ready
01:51
to further enhance this area through mutual cooperation, and your desire would be my command.
02:02
Finally, I would like to appreciate, on behalf of the people of Pakistan and my government
02:11
and myself, your very clear and very forthright stand on Gaza, oppressed people of Palestine,
02:26
and of course, this recent attack in Lebanon.
02:31
I think our hearts, you know, it's very heart-wrenching, in fact.
02:40
It's heartbreaking to see this and watch this and read these stories day in and day
02:47
out of innocent children being martyred, mothers, fathers being martyred in front of their young
02:55
children, and cities after cities being demolished.
03:01
I think in contemporary history, this kind of genocide, carnage, there's no parallel
03:11
to that.
03:12
I hope and pray to God that through our joint efforts, you know, a ceasefire could be put
03:21
in place as of yesterday and peace is restored and, you know, good sense prevails upon.
03:32
Similarly, the unsettled question of Kashmir, your Excellency, is a matter of great concern
03:42
for peaceful world and, of course, Islamic world.
03:48
Indian people of Kashmir are struggling for their basic rights and still have to be given
03:56
their right of self-determination.
04:01
They have struggled, they have paid huge sacrifices, and I think thousands and thousands of Kashmiris
04:09
have been martyred and, of course, worse kind of atrocities committed against them.
04:18
They have been put in third class jails, imprisoned for life, and given very severe punishment.
04:30
Yet, Kashmiris are brave people.
04:34
They have withstood and they have fought all these trials and revolutions with great courage
04:45
and I'm sure one day soon they will get their basic right.
04:51
Excellency, once again, thank you very much for your visit.
04:55
God bless you and Pakistan and Malaysian friendship.
05:01
Zindabad.
05:02
Before I invite you, I'd like to recite Iqbal's and you will like this stanza.
05:13
He says, and says very eloquently,
05:16
Tamanna aaburu ki hai agar gulzaar-e-hasti mein,
05:27
toh kaanto mein ulaj kar zindagi karne ki khoo kar le,
05:32
aur nahi yeh shaan-e-khuddaari chaman se tod kar tujhko,
05:38
koi dastaar mein rak le, koi zeve gulo kar le.
05:42
Thank you very much.
05:43
Before I invite your Excellency the Prime Minister of Malaysia for his remarks,
05:47
I would like to announce that Pakistan is translating
05:50
His Excellency Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim's book titled Script into Urdu Language.
05:56
Script stands for sustainability, care and compassion, respect, innovation, prosperity and trust.
06:04
These six values were selected because of how they integrate together
06:10
and reinforce one another.
06:12
The script acronym has been translated as Madani in Malay.
06:17
It is a current national policy framework serving as a resource for understanding
06:22
the essentials of governance, social justice and community building.
06:27
The book will be launched as soon as the translation is completed.
06:32
Now I invite your Excellency for your remarks.
06:34
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
06:37
Alhamdulillah, we praise and pray for His noble Messenger.
06:44
Thank you, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif,
06:50
for the hospitality to my delegation,
06:54
for your kind remarks, for your support,
06:59
and not merely a friendship or diplomatic encounter,
07:04
but for a brotherly spirit shown,
07:08
and the love and affection as brothers.
07:13
Well, I am…
07:20
…very meaningful to me, very personal,
07:24
because it is a land envisioned by Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
07:30
With his wisdom, the philosopher-poet has placed in his writings, in his speeches,
07:36
such a vision, and we just hope that this spirit
07:42
lives on in the hearts and minds not only of Pakistanis,
07:47
but also the Muslims throughout the world.
07:49
But as I remarked, this is also the land led by one esteemed world statesman,
07:58
Khairul Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
08:01
And I recall that many of my speeches, lectures,
08:07
I have never failed to cite some of his brilliant speeches,
08:12
including the compelling case for Pakistan
08:18
in his 1947 Constituent Assembly speech.
08:23
Now, we have had extensive discussions.
08:28
It is amazing. It is only through, not only bilateral encounter,
08:33
but a trusted friendship that we can agree on a number of issues,
08:39
and you have proven what many of us believe,
08:45
very serious, very business-like, down-to-earth, get things done.
08:50
And I don't envy your colleagues.
08:53
But it means well for the future of Pakistan.
08:58
And so we will meet next month in Kuala Lumpur, inshallah,
09:03
the Joint Review Committee of the Malaysia-Pakistan Close Economic Partnership Agreement
09:09
for the Joint Commission Meeting.
09:12
And we will follow through with my colleagues in detail in specific programmes,
09:18
to make sure that those things we have agreed will be implemented.
09:25
On the BIF import, it shouldn't be a problem, and we will certainly look at it.
09:34
And we need, we still import, we import from other countries.
09:40
I don't see any reason why we can't import from Pakistan.
09:43
Thank you very much.
09:44
There is no issue of halal.
09:46
In all my travels, Pindi and Karachi and Islamabad, Lahore,
09:52
and of course, Sharmila Gardens is my favourite.
09:57
I just love to bring my wife and be more romantic in that place.
10:03
We don't have any issue with this halal certification.
10:08
But we will go through the process, and we will certainly speed up the import from Pakistan.
10:15
Similarly, rice. We do import rice.
10:19
And we have agreed the initial 100,000 metric tonnes.
10:25
We will see the price mechanisms, etc.
10:30
But I can assure you there is no differentiation in terms of import duty imposed.
10:37
In fact, I am pleased to announce to you that the trade office, Matrade,
10:42
will open next month in Karachi.
10:49
On the issue of collaborations and skilled labour,
10:54
we will certainly look forward because our focus on the professionals
11:02
is required to satisfy the new demands.
11:07
Huge, massive investments, probably the largest in the ASEAN region,
11:12
in terms of IT, digital, and AI.
11:16
And I am pleased, alhamdulillah, that Malaysia is regarded as one of the important hubs
11:21
for the semiconductor industry.
11:25
And we should be able to collaborate on that field too.
11:28
We discussed a variety of issues on the special economic zone,
11:33
on the issue of trade investments,
11:41
on military and defence procurement,
11:49
particularly in areas that you have been able to succeed,
11:53
even in collaborating with Turkey.
11:57
On flights, thank you very much for the additional four flights.
12:01
Malaysia looks forward to increasing that
12:05
because there are some triple interest,
12:09
triple numbers of tourists from Malaysia to Pakistan,
12:15
which sees the potential of this beautiful country.
12:20
And I think in this relation,
12:22
we will certainly welcome Pakistani tourists into Malaysia.
12:27
One of the key advantages is that we have warm water throughout the year.
12:35
As long as you wear something.
12:39
Now, on EV and car,
12:43
there are specific areas I wouldn't dwell on these subjects
12:46
because I think many of the issues have been discussed
12:49
and we are supposed to follow through.
12:52
But you did mention some of the international concerns.
12:57
I followed your speech at the United Nations General Assembly,
13:01
compelling case to respect human rights, justice all over the world.
13:07
And you made a compelling case for Palestine and Gaza.
13:11
And we appreciate your stance.
13:14
And it has been followed, it's viral,
13:19
admired by many of those who believe in freedom and justice.
13:24
The problem is more precarious, of course,
13:27
now with the expanded and extended war or aggression into Lebanon
13:33
and the continued genocide into Gaza and the West Bank.
13:39
We have said that this issue is not a war between two countries.
13:44
It is completely intransigence and aggression
13:49
disregarding all fundamental rules of international order.
13:53
And the plight of the Palestinians for seven decades now,
13:58
dispossessed, denied of their basic rights.
14:03
And you have seen not only inconsistency,
14:07
but hypocrisy in many so-called countries
14:10
talking about human rights and freedom,
14:12
hectoring the world about human rights and freedom,
14:14
but certainly being very selective in the decisions.
14:20
On Kashmir, which you discussed,
14:22
because we have said clearly that we are committed
14:25
to support the United Nations Security Council resolution.
14:29
But the concern of human rights concerns is, of course, our concern.
14:33
We continue to voice in true channels that is acceptable.
14:40
And we pray, inshallah, that this issue will be amicably resolved.
14:47
We did discuss on issues like Afghanistan,
14:51
hoping to achieve some sort of arrangement and international recognition,
14:58
hoping also that Afghan authorities and government also concede
15:04
and try to make the adjustments necessary to secure peace with its neighbors
15:10
and also to ensure that some policies are generally acceptable to the international community,
15:16
including women's right to education.
15:20
We discussed the need to continue our engagement
15:24
with the United States of America as an important country
15:28
in terms of trade investments and diplomatic relations,
15:31
but also to accept the fact that we are an independent nation.
15:35
And ASEAN, for example, the ASEAN Security Council
15:39
regards the relations with our neighbors as very important
15:42
and therefore our strengthening of relations with China.
15:48
So again, let me thank you.
15:51
Thank you for this opportunity.
15:53
And thank you for reciting this great poem from Alamah Muhammad Iqbal.
15:59
Very impressive.
16:01
I know you tried to convince me that you memorized some, and I don't.
16:06
Except for being a very serious student
16:12
who tried and grasped the values, the message, the compelling case for dignity
16:22
that is expounded by Alamah Muhammad Iqbal.
16:26
So thank you.
16:27
Peace be upon you.
