Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's visit to Pakistan took off to a ceremonial start on Thursday (Oct 3) as he was greeted with a guard of honour at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad, setting the stage for crucial delegation-level discussions with Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif.

00:15Anwar planted a ceremonial sapling on the lawn as part of a long-standing diplomatic
00:19custom before carrying out a one-on-one meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, Shehbaz Sharif.
00:27Speaking at a joint press conference after the bilateral meeting, Anwar said Malaysia
00:32in principle agreed to import 100,000 metric tons of halal meat from Pakistan as well as
00:39Basmati rice.
00:41He expressed confidence that Pakistan's halal meat exporters would have no problem adhering
00:46to Malaysia's stringent halal regulations in order to maintain the quality of their
00:51halal meat products.
00:52Anwar also welcomed Pakistan's continued engagement with ASEAN and expressed support
00:57for further engagement between Islamabad and the Southeast Asian bloc.
01:02Pakistan's foreign ministry in a statement said that Anwar's visit presents a significant
01:07opportunity to bolster the long-standing Pakistan-Malaysia relationship, which is deeply rooted in shared
01:14history, culture and faith.
