I think I'm safe in saying that not only will the schools not work without
00:09
teachers, the community will not function without you.
00:19
As a teacher, with everyone who are gathered here today, you are proof
00:24
that no matter what the challenges our education system faces, we will
00:29
prevail. Malakas ang loob natin dahil alam natin nandiyan ang ating mga teacher.
00:35
It's because of your passion, your innovation, unwavering dedication that I
00:39
hold the firm belief that despite odds, we will push forward. In my recent SONAM,
00:46
I emphasize that supporting teachers is one of this administration's key
00:51
priorities. We are committed to ensuring
00:57
that you have ample resources to teach, whether by additional materials,
01:04
reducing non-teaching responsibilities.
01:09
So in line with that commitment, we have implemented several measures that will
01:15
transform the lives of our 860,000 public school teachers. This year, I
01:22
signed implementing rules and regulations for executive order number
01:26
174 to bring more opportunities for your career advancement and professional
01:31
development. No public school teacher will be retiring as teacher one anymore.
01:43
We have also streamlined the career path for public school administrators to lay
01:49
the groundwork for school leaders rising from the ranks of
01:55
master teachers. With this flexibility to move between classroom teaching and
02:00
school administration, you can grow professionally, explore new roles, and
02:05
assume leadership positions. On the other hand, we signed the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act
02:11
which allots a tax-free teaching allowance of 5,000 pesos this year
02:17
for the purchase of supplies and materials for your teaching. This will
02:23
increase to 10,000 pesos in the next school year.
02:32
We do not, sa aming pananaw, hindi ang tingin namin dito, hindi ito financial aid.
02:39
Ito'y nakakasiguro. This makes sure and ensures that you have the tools for
02:46
that are necessary for your effective teaching. I have also
02:52
signed executive order number 64 which provides for an increase in government
02:58
employee salaries, including that of our teachers, and delivery of medical
03:02
allowance worth 7,000 pesos.
03:09
Furthermore, the personal accident insurance policy of the GSIS safeguards
03:15
your security amidst the day-to-day challenges that you face as our
03:19
professionals. Depend order number 005, 02024, was likewise issued.
03:26
One of its provisions is the fair and equitable distribution of teaching load.
03:32
Public school teachers will be properly compensated once
03:39
they exceed the prescribed six hours of classroom teaching every day.
03:48
We are instituting these measures to foster a more balanced and conducive work
03:54
environment for our public school teachers. Allow me to narrate some
03:59
stories which attest to the transformation that these efforts
04:02
brought to our educators. Ma'am Zoraida, a teacher from La Union, shared that the
04:08
increase in salary and medical allowance has given her peace of mind.
04:12
She and her fellow teachers can now focus on teaching, knowing that the
04:17
government has recognized their value and their hard work. Teacher Joanna from
04:22
Negros Occidental shared that our assurance that no teacher will retire as
04:26
teacher one has boosted her morale in the profession and give her hope for
04:32
advancement. It is not just a recognition of our teachers dedication but
04:38
also a testament to our shared commitment to empowering our educators.
