A Texas man smashed a Taylor Swift-autographed guitar as "a joke," leaving more splinters than teardrops behind, after paying $4,000 for it at auction. Gary Estes made the destruction public in a viral video, but he insists he holds no ill will toward Swift.

00:10he went viral after he spent $4,000 on a signed Taylor Swift guitar at an auction
00:15and then destroyed it in front of everybody.
00:16And now in a new interview with TMZ,
00:18Gary is claiming he had no malicious intent towards Taylor for destroying the guitar.
00:22And in fact, he claims it was just a joke.
00:24The auctioneer in the video went on to defend Gary,
00:26saying that it was a funny, light-hearted thing.
00:28And while it might look malicious, he said everybody in the crowd was laughing.
00:31And while the potential political aspect of all of this is being downplayed,
00:35the auctioneer did mention that this was a light-hearted dig at Taylor
00:38for using her influence to weigh in on American politics.
