00:00House Speaker Martin Romualdos conducted an inspection at the Manila International Container

00:05Port or MICP to address rice hoarding and smuggling concerns.

00:10Accompanied by House Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo and Bureau of Customs Commissioner

00:15Bienvenido Rubio, Romualdos observed the storage of millions of kilograms of imported rice.

00:22He emphasized the need for importers to refrain from using the full 30-day grace period before

00:27releasing their rice, labeling such delays as hoarding that can disrupt supply and affect

00:33prices.

00:34Currently, the BOC reports that there are 523 containers of imported rice at the MICP

00:41with each container holding 25 metric tons and valued at Php 750,000.
