Liverpool revealed to be the most expensive student city

00:08on a student night out outside of London. Liverpool is the busiest student city in

00:13the UK as the yearly average spend on alcohol alone is an eye-watering £635.

00:18The new study by student discount provider Student Beans has revealed

00:22Liverpool's the most expensive city excluding the capital for a student

00:25night out with the average student paying just under £70 in the city

00:29centre. From paying for an entry ticket, grabbing some drinks and getting a taxi

00:33the research found that average UK student will spend up to £49 for a

00:38night out however according to a recent report 50% of students are going sober

00:43for freshers week with the average cost of going sober during a night out £30

00:47that's a saving of £18 compared their non-sober friends. According to their

00:52data in Liverpool on average the cost of an entry ticket price for freshers

00:55events is £13.50 whilst a taxi home will set you back £8.90. There are

01:00certainly some savings to be made to enjoy freshers week without blowing your

01:04budget which includes getting the bus instead of a taxi or even walk if it is

01:08safe. The N1 bus service helps late-night revellers and it runs each weekend

01:13between midnight and 5 a.m. ensuring night owls can travel home safely in the

01:17early hours for just £2. I hate to sound like your mum but you've got food at

01:21home. I know nothing hits quite like a greasy takeaway after a night out but

01:25that's another £7 you could save on average so stock up on hangover

01:29friendly food instead of grabbing fast food. You could go sober for the night

01:33and you'll feel even better the next day when you spent far less on booze than

01:37you normally would. The average cost for three pints is £23 versus £5 for

01:41three soft drinks. Set a budget you can work out how much you have to spend on a

01:46weekly basis and therefore how much you can allocate for each night out and

01:50finally look for offers and freebies. Check out your locals see if they do

01:53two-for-one on drinks and check whether you can get into a venue cheaper or even

01:57free by going earlier.
