00:00With early voting underway in a few states, presidential candidate Kamala Harris is banking

00:06on one key issue to lure voters, abortion.

00:10At a last-minute rally on Friday, Harris cast Donald Trump and his party as hypocrites,

00:16blaming the former president for an abortion ban in the battleground state of Georgia.

00:21Her intense focus on abortion rights is a new development, coming this week after a

00:26widely-spread news report about a woman who died as a result of delayed medical care.

00:44Amber Thurman, age 28, died in 2022 in Georgia, where most abortions are banned after six

00:50weeks of pregnancy.

00:53She tried to end her pregnancy by taking prescription pills in another state, but upon returning

01:01She developed sepsis and died while waiting more than 20 hours at the hospital for a routine

01:07medical procedure.

01:09Her doctors could have faced up to a decade in prison for providing Amber the care she

01:18needed.

01:20Doctors have to wait until the patient is at death's door before they take action.

01:30The night before, she sat with popular television host Oprah Winfrey and discussed the tragedy

01:36with Thurman's family.

01:38Abortion is one of the few issues where Harris has a clear advantage over Trump.

01:43A New York Times and Siena College poll of likely voters found that 54 percent of them

01:49trust her to do a better job on abortion rights, compared with 41 percent who trust Trump.

01:56On several other key issues, like the economy, Trump holds an advantage.
