Emmy-winning 'Shōgun' actress Anna Sawai talks big wins, what's next and how she'll choose a role now that everyone is talking to her. She spoke to THR moments after her Emmy win on Disney post-Emmy carpet.

00:00Emmy winner hold up that trophy. Let's see that. I can't believe it. What is happening?

00:04I don't know you gave such an emotional and moving speech

00:07What was going through your mind when they called your name when you were up there giving that speech?

00:11Um, I couldn't believe it. But I also know that this trophy is not just for me

00:15It's it's for everyone who worked on this show. I was supported by an amazing crew the writers. They're so important

00:23It's it's everybody. So I think I was thinking about

00:27Them and I got really teared up

00:30You gave such a nice shout out to your mom

00:31What did it mean to get to bring her to the Emmys and have her there in the audience?

00:34It means everything. I just want to make her proud. She's not someone to ask for a lot

00:38She doesn't say too much. But when she was coming to LA for this

00:43She told me how excited she was and I saw her cheering up

00:46I know that she's proud of me and that means the whole world. It was just such a huge night for Shogun

00:52What is all the love and support for the show meant to you?

00:55It's huge. I think that

00:57I'm getting love

01:00For for our culture for the people like that means a lot. It's it's you see that there's an acceptance there

01:06There's a curiosity. There's an interest

01:09For other people like different people that you don't not necessarily understand but want to

01:16I think that it's opening doors for our community. So yeah, that's huge

01:21Who was the first person who texted you or called you after your Emmy win?

01:24I actually don't know because when I saw my phone I had a hundred eighty notifications

01:30I don't know who the first person is. The first person I called was my sister

01:33Oh, that's so amazing

01:35And like I was saying it's such a big night for the cast of Shogun who from the cast

01:39Do you think is gonna party the hardest at this after party?

01:42Um, I feel like it might be Tokuma-san who is probably the oldest cast

01:47But he is such a young soul. I know that we're gonna have an amazing time

01:52And of course so many people have seen the show now, so it's not a spoiler

01:55But we will miss you so much in season 2

01:57Do you think there's any chance maybe your character could come back in a flashback as a ghost when I was talking to Hiro

02:04A couple days ago. He said as a twin. Maybe he threw that out there. We love those jokes

02:08I feel like it would all I would say yes if they wanted me to but the way that the story

02:14Completed for her was perfect and I don't want to touch that. Yeah following your performance on this show

02:19What sort of doors has it opened for you in terms of roles? I don't know yet. I'm still looking for my next role

02:25I'm shooting a second season of a show that I did Monarch Legacy of Monsters right now, but I'm looking for the next one

02:32Um, I feel like people are more interested in me

02:35And I'm also I also know what I can do well and what I want

02:40So it's just a matter of like finding the right match. What kind of role do you want to take on next?

02:45Just human roles things that are grounded things that talk about life things that will make you

02:51Mad or sad or I don't know. It feels you know something intense. I want to do that. We can't wait to see it
