Queensland’s opposition will launch an inquiry into paedophile Ashley Paul Griffith if it wins next month’s state election

The state opposition has vowed to launch an independent inquiry into one of Australia’s worst paedophiles if elected to government. Former childcare worker Ashley Paul Griffith last week pleaded guilty to more than 300 child sex charges.

00:20Ashley Paul Griffith pleaded guilty to more than 300 child sex charges last week.

00:26The offences were committed in Brisbane and Italy between 2003 and 2022.

00:33If elected, the LNP wants the Queensland Family and Child Commissioner to review the child

00:38protection system in relation to the case.

00:41That is a plan that will restore confidence in a system that parents have lost confidence

00:46in.

00:47We are a government that puts children first.

00:50The state government has asked police for a second internal review into how two complaints

00:55about Mr Griffith were handled.

00:58Inquiries found police appropriately investigated the claims.
