The Canberra Liberals have proposed a new stadium on the Acton waterfront, aiming to replace the ageing Bruce Stadium and highlight Canberra's readiness to host world-class events.

00:42Stage 2A of light rail, which the party does back.

00:46There are several stops along that route which will be very easily accessible.

00:50But the site is slated for mixed-use development, including apartments, eateries and parks.

00:56The Chief Minister says changing the National Capital Plan could take years.

01:02So a smoother pathway in a precinct that supports a stadium is the AIS Bruce Precinct.

01:09It's the second major project the Liberals have committed to in four days, after announcing

01:14a new National Convention Centre.

01:17It could make for an expensive term in government if the party also proceeds with existing plans

01:23for an upgraded Canberra Theatre Precinct and a new Northside Hospital.

01:28In the last three days, the Canberra Liberals have spent nearly $1.5 billion on two announcements.

01:36The Liberals say their policy costings will go before Treasury ahead of the election.
