Review of Radio 2 in the Park day two

Senior reporter Aimee Seddon gives you the low-down on what Radio 2 in the Park day two was like.

00:00Hi I'm digital reporter Amy Seddon and today I'm in Preston for Radio 2 in the

00:05Park at Moor Park. It's 11.30 and there's already a huge queue for the regular

00:11entrance but luckily I get to go through the press entrance so I'll be a little

00:14bit faster. Okay when I said huge I was slightly exaggerating. The queue for

00:20Radio 2 in the Park was nothing compared to other festivals I've been to. I was

00:24just impressed of how many people were already there 90 minutes before the

00:27first act. Once inside I was again impressed by the site before me. Moor Park

00:32had been transformed into a festival site but unlike most festivals you could

00:36see everything on offer in one view as it was all on one field rather than

00:40being spread out. The atmosphere was already really high, everyone seemed

00:44excitement for the entertainment to start and frankly the weather was in

00:47just as high spirits. Here I walked past and meet the gladiators tent which

00:51looked fun. At 11.30 this bar had no queue whatsoever but there was so many bars

00:57across the site that I never had to queue for a drink the whole time anyway.

01:00There was an excellent range of drinks on offer as well but they were all

01:03overpriced as expected as a festival. Pints were £6.95 for example. There was

01:10also plenty of food options more so than I remember at any other festival. In

01:14total more than 30,000 people attended the Saturday so it was extremely busy but

01:20the atmosphere was relaxed and I always found a good space to watch the acts.

01:24First up was Travis and although I only knew a few of their songs it turned out

01:29to be one of my favourite acts. They sounded amazing and they brought such

01:32energy to the stage you could tell they had the audience captivated.

01:41Then it was Shazne Lewis who brought the R&B vibe to Preston with a mix of her

01:46solo and All Saints songs. She even did a surprise cover of George Michael's

01:50Freedom which had the whole crowd dancing away. Next Pixie Lott took to the

01:55stage and it was amazing hearing all the songs I spent my teen years singing

01:59being belted out by the pop star in Preston. Rylan even joined in which

02:03delighted the audience. Craig David was next and he was my favourite so far. He

02:09brought such a cool energy with him and everyone was singing and dancing like

02:13they were at a party with their best friends.

02:20Kim Wilde then took to the main stage but at this point I went to the DJ tent

02:31to enjoy Dermot O'Leary's Sound of the 90s which was so much fun to dance to. We

02:36returned to the main stage for Snow Patrol whose set was quite frankly

02:40stunning. Each song was beautifully performed and everyone in the crowd sung

02:44along and waved their hands throughout even to the new singles.

02:50The penultimate act was the Sugar Babes whose music soundtracked my childhood so I

03:07knew almost every word. Their set was the longest and it was so professional it

03:11felt like a music video.

03:20Finally the headliner Sting saw the day off with a bang performing a 75 minute

03:33set full of absolute classics. Sting's voice is still spectacular and his band

03:38are great. It was the perfect end to a fabulous day.
