Day 10 of the Paralympics is done and dusted and it was a fantastic day.
00:08
We had another 10 medals and some really important conversations around the importance of the
00:12
emotional toll that winning a medal can have for some athletes.
00:16
Curtis McGrath spoke after his repeat gold medal in the kayak about leaving his young
00:21
son back home in Australia and how hard that's been for him.
00:24
And I cannot imagine leaving my six week old baby back home in Australia.
00:28
And I think that was a really brave and important conversation to have about, you know, these
00:32
athletes have lives outside of what we see happening at the Paralympics.
00:35
And it's really amazing to hear about all the sacrifices that they've done and also
00:39
really humanize them as individuals.
00:41
We also had Cole Pearce in the pool win silver and talking about losing his grandfather just
00:45
a fortnight ago and the emotional toll that that's had.
00:48
Over in the athletics, we had James Turner win his second gold medal for the run.
00:53
We also heard from him about some letters that he's receiving from his coach and how
00:57
they've helped calm him down and some good mental health practices before his events
01:01
have really helped gear him up, which I think is awesome.
01:04
It's been a fantastic 10 days for our Aussie Paralympians.
01:06
We are ninth on the medal tally.
01:08
There's a couple more events to still come, but it has been fantastic to have you on
01:11
board. Check out online for some more stories and we'll see you all next time.
