Paralympic Breakfast: The highs and lows of day one

Australia's paralympic team has made a bang in Paris with four medals to its tally after only one day of competition.

00:00Good morning sports fans, isn't it wonderful to be back in Paris?

00:07It only seems like yesterday we were celebrating one of Australia's greatest Olympic Games

00:12and now our Paralympians have picked up right where they left off.

00:16Day one in the pool and we've already won four medals.

00:19Gold to Thomas Gallagher in the men's S10 50m freestyle where Rowan Crothers also won

00:25Gallagher almost died after the Tokyo Paralympics.

00:30Brendan Hall and Lakeisha Patterson won silver in their S9 400m freestyles too, helping Australia

00:36to stick place in the medal tally already.

00:39Not so much joy for the team wheelchair sports.

00:42The basketball rollers got off to a great start against the Netherlands but went down

00:4666-55 and the rugby stealers lost to Great Britain 58-55.

00:52Both teams face some tough opposition in remaining qualifiers but it's early days.
