00:00Let's start with a little update from the Department of Agriculture.

00:04And of course, let's start with the effects of the typhoon in the country.

00:09How is the supply of rice and food?

00:12Yes, Asic Dale, even though we experienced a typhoon,

00:16we are sure that our supply of rice and food in our country is sufficient

00:23because it was a good first production even though we experienced a typhoon.

00:28And our latest data from the Bureau of Plant Industry of our imported rice

00:34has reached 2.8 million metric tons.

00:38This is an additional assurance in the supply of rice in our country.

00:42As for our vegetables, the price is still stable.

00:46We have alternative sources of vegetables like these in places that were hit by the typhoon.

00:53Asic Arnel, how much is the estimated damage caused by the typhoon in the agriculture sector?

01:00According to our latest bulletin, this is bulletin number 4,

01:04the total damage in the agriculture sector reached Php 659 million.

01:11This is the largest in the Bicol region.

01:14In particular, in Camarines Sur, it reached Php 324 million.

01:18And it affected our rice sector.

01:22Asic Arnel, what assistance was provided to the affected farmers and fishermen of the DA?

01:31As of now, Asic Dale, we have already received more than Php 200 million.

01:36This is our standby fund for our rice, corn, and vegetables.

01:42Every time we have a typhoon like this,

01:46we have prepositions of rice and when our farmers are ready to plant again,

01:52we will distribute this.

01:54The indemnifications under the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation are also the same,

02:00between Php 15,000 to Php 30,000 depending on the commodity.

02:04The rehabilitation effort under the Quick Response Fund of the Department of Agriculture is also the same.

02:12This is Php 1 billion and every time there is a calamity, it can be replenished.

02:17And of course, our credit assistance, this is what we call a survival and recovery loan of Php 25,000

02:25to every farmer and fisherman who wants to avail of our credit facility.

02:30Asic Arnel, in other talks, the Philippine Competition Commission filed a complaint

02:37against some individuals and companies who did not comply with the Union Cartel.

02:42What is the reaction of the DA here and what are the next steps that the agency will take?

02:48That's right, Asic Dale. We also watched the press conference of the Philippine Competition Commission yesterday.

02:55And the first reaction of our government and government is that the Secretary is happy with the steps and decisions of the PCC regarding this.

03:05And this shows that the Department and the whole government will go after all smugglers

03:13and all those who do such bad things.

03:17As of now, in the BPI, we are not giving any transactions.

03:22These 12 that were mentioned, our process for blacklisting of companies and individuals involved in this is ongoing.
