00:00We go now to the Caribbean, from where our colleague Daisy Rusan tells us how the government

00:04of the Dominican Republic shows its double standards in international politics and human

00:09rights.

00:10Let's see.

00:13The Dominican state is denounced by international organizations for racism and persecution against

00:18Haitians and people of African descent.

00:21The government described this as foreign interference.

00:25This has generated a debate on the double standards in the country's foreign policy

00:29due to its position in other international scenarios.

00:35There are no racist migratory policies here, so let those international organizations say

00:40what they want to say, but let them really respect national sovereignty and our policies,

00:45which have never been detrimental to immigrants, no matter where they come from.

00:52They act according to their convenience, for example with the racist policy of persecution

00:57of Haitian citizens in the Dominican Republic, what they call the migration policy of the

01:02Dominican Republic, but from the Afro-activism we define it in this way, as a totally racist

01:07policy.

01:08When any person in the world speaks of respect for the human rights of black people in the

01:13Dominican Republic, they immediately call for the application of the constitution and

01:18the application of international law.

01:22The Dominican government has shown a selective disposition to accept or reject what it considers

01:27foreign interference.

01:28On the one hand, it rejects criticism of racist persecutions and on the other, it allows and

01:33participates in acts of interference in the internal affairs of other countries, as in

01:38the case of Venezuela.

01:42In the Dominican Republic, there is no president of the republic.

01:47There is a colonial governor who made common cause with the neo-fascist project of Guaidó.

01:53Under the tutelage of the United States of America, and who later, as a tiger that does

01:59not change its stripes, repeats history by supporting the neo-fascist project with two

02:05notorious CIA agents at the head, the María Corina and Edmundo González project, with

02:12all the traces of corruption and crimes, and the very specific case of the puppet presidential

02:19candidate.

02:22Accepting this is a shame for the Dominican Republic, but it is a shame for others because

02:27it is not an attitude of our people.

02:32Although the Dominican government defends the right to manage its internal affairs without

02:36interference, it has allowed summits to be held in its own territory to openly criticize

02:40the Venezuelan government.

02:47The signing countries, gathered in Santo Domingo de Guzmán, make a firm call for reason

02:53and sanity in Venezuela.

02:55We urge that democratic principles be respected, as well as the human rights and fundamental

03:00freedoms of all Venezuelans and in particular the right to demonstrate peacefully and to

03:06exercise freedom of expression.

03:08We are concerned that this is not the reality in Venezuela.

03:14The Dominican Republic has also cooperated in actions that could be considered direct

03:18interference.

03:19This is the case of the seizure of a Venezuelan plane in Dominican territory by the US, an

03:24action that contradicts the Dominican position on sovereignty and non-interference.

03:32It is a shameful act because it is the seizure or the authorization of the seizure in Dominican

03:38territory of a Venezuelan airplane that belongs to the Venezuelan Bolivarian Revolution, authorized

03:46by the Dominican authorities and stolen from the Venezuelan state.

03:51And let it be known to the Venezuelan people that the people of Juan Pablo Duarte, who

03:56was welcomed by the Venezuelan people when he was betrayed, that the people of Camano,

04:03of our leader Gregorio Luperon, the people of Professor Juan Bosch, the people of Pedro

04:10Mir, will not cease to accompany all anti-imperialist causes, and especially this exemplary cause

04:17that the Bolivarian process represents.

04:22This double standard not only undermines the credibility of the Dominican Republic on the

04:26international stage, but also raises questions about its priorities in terms of human rights

04:32and respect for the sovereignty of other nations.

04:35While every country has the right to defend its interests, coherence in foreign policy

04:39is key to maintaining a respected and consistent position in the global community.
