01:05get Drake May ready?

01:06And when will you know that he's ready?

01:08But do you read that comment as he doesn't think he's ready?

01:10Well, not necessarily.

01:11I read it as they're erring on the side of caution because

01:14what they don't want to do is throw him out there.

01:15He's not ready.

01:16And then you have to take him out.

01:17I think the second part of that comment is very important.

01:19The worst thing you can do isn't just put him in before

01:21he's ready.

01:22It's put him in before he's ready and then remove him.

01:25Like you have to bench.

01:26You go with him and then you have to bench him.

01:28Yeah, that would be tough to come back from.

01:30You know, a couple weeks ago when we're talking about like

01:32leading up to the decision, I think it was pretty obvious

01:34that if you're going to make a quarterback change at all,

01:38you have to start Brissett and then go to Drake.

01:40Yeah, like nobody's thinking you start Drake May.

01:42And oh, if they get off to a slow start, then in comes Brissett.

01:46You're not going to do that.

01:46The whole thing's a mess and everybody's getting second

01:48guessed and jobs are on the line and all this.

01:49So look, I don't think he would play so poorly that you

01:52have to bench him.

01:52But that's just an opinion.

01:53That would be a nightmare scenario.

01:54If he plays, he plays poorly and then you have to bench

01:57him. So I don't necessarily see him acknowledging that

02:00he's not ready.

02:01I do look at that comment and I do think it's more

02:05confirmation and this is coupled with something Mayo

02:07said yesterday.

02:09We never discussed it on the air, but it's more evidence

02:11that Elliot Wolfe was the one who didn't want Drake May

02:14to start the season and he's at odds with the coaching

02:16staff and Gerard Mayo, I think, because Mayo also had

02:18a comment yesterday about development.

02:21I think it was about the practice squad to be honest,

02:23but he's asked about developing players and he answered

02:26it. Players get better by playing football and left

02:30unsaid.

02:30There is how's Drake May in Mayo's estimation.

02:33How's he going to get better by not playing football?
