'Family Matters' star Reginald VelJohnson gushes over having a dance partner like Emma Slater for the new season of 'Dancing With the Stars.' Plus, the dance couple reveal who they have their eye on this competition.

00:00How has it been so far? How have rehearsals been going? How are you feeling about this season?

00:04First of all, it's a blessing that I got her, you know, because I was wondering,

00:09who's going to be my partner? Who's going to be my partner? Because I can't dance.

00:13And she made me dance. She told me I could do it and I did it. Thanks to her.

00:18I feel like all of you guys are so humble this season. You're like, I can't dance,

00:21I can't dance. But how would you describe him as a partner right now?

00:24Oh, he is so caring. He's just lovely. He makes me feel very much taken care of. He's a gentleman.

00:32Yes. You're always asking about me. He's just very genuine. He couldn't fake a single thing.

00:37And I love his authenticity. And I think that that kind of charisma and heart is going to

00:42come out in the dancing because, I mean, how can it not? He just kind of shines.

00:47You see why I chose her? She's the best.

00:50I'm like, this is this is a pair to watch out for this season.

00:54Is there a song or an artist that you're looking forward to hopefully dancing to this season?

00:59Well, about James Brown. Yeah, James Brown. He's cool. Living in America. They've been in America.

01:09Is there anyone that you see as maybe like a main competitor? Like, we got to watch out for those

01:14guys. There's one like every season. I mean, I think Chandler. I mean, gotta be an incredible

01:22dancer. I would say watch out also for Steven, Pommel Horse guy. You know, how can he not? Like,

01:29he's going to be good. Dwight Howard, because, you know, I heard he can move. He's tall,

01:36which can be, you know, extremely challenging. But I heard he can dance. And then Phaedra,

01:42because she's Phaedra. Yeah. I feel like there's a lot of like good competitors this season.

01:48But is there any advice that you shared about being a part of this journey in general?

01:54I feel like there was no, at the moment, no advice that I've given him that I could

01:59like say really stood out other than it really does take a lot of trust between partner and

02:05celebrity, because you spend a lot of time together. And, you know, at the end of the day,

02:10I'm asking him to step out of his comfort zone and dance when he's not danced before and wear

02:15sparkles and things like that. So there has to have a lot of trust. And I think that we have

02:20that already. Dance, trust and dance is very important, because if you don't trust her,

02:25you can't do anything silly. She makes you trust her just by one word. She can make me trust her.

02:32You know, and I just do it. Finally, I want to ask. I know there's a lot of fun theme nights

02:37that you guys have every season. If you could come up with a theme night, what would it be

02:41for both of you, actually? I don't know. Well, I've had this idea for a while, but I think it

02:48might be a bit too vague. Just love theme, because it really could encumber like love for it, for

02:54as a parent, for a child, love for, you know, a particular childhood show or a place or

03:01that person. And so I thought love theme would be good. Maybe it's a bit vague. I don't know.

03:07We have to pitch it to the producers. They're going to watch this and it's going to be on this

03:10season. OK.
