Maye "Outplayed" snaps or performance?

How did you hear this? When Mayo said Maye "outplayed" Brissett, did you take that as meaning "snaps", or "performance"? Thoughts on quote?

00:00Gerard Mayo was on the show yesterday and he joins us every Monday during the

00:07NFL season and I did not hear his answer to a question on this show yesterday the

00:13same way that that Sports Illustrated did and so I'm curious if you're which

00:20way you heard it so yesterday when Gerard Mayo was on asked him about

00:25saying on this show a couple weeks ago that Drake May had outplayed Jacoby

00:33Brissett yeah you know I should have given more

00:35content on hold on I'm not done yet had outplayed Jacoby Brissett clearly I

00:42think that's what he that's what he said yep asked him to clarify then yesterday

00:48why Jacoby Brissett was starting over Drake May if Drake May had out played

00:57him and now Shyam this is the answer that he gave yeah you know I should have

01:02given more context to the comment at the time well Drake had more playing time in

01:06the preseason than Jacoby and that was intentional so as we talk about the

01:10developmental plan like we know what it is internally but that was definitely

01:13intentional we know what Jacoby can do he's played a lot of ball in this league

01:17we see him every day in practice and we know what he's done in the NFL as well

01:20so but we have full confidence I have full confidence and Jacoby leading our

01:25team into the season and and you know the players feel the same way you know

01:30those guys selected another captain so that should say a lot as well I just you

01:34know that this is the way we're going to go and like I always say as the head

01:37coach of the team like I'm trying to make the best decisions for the

01:40organization not only here in the present but also in the future okay so

01:44the way Sports Illustrated heard that and they called it essentially a

01:48hilarious pivot attempt by Gerard Mayo was that Drake May had outplayed Jacoby

01:54reset when it came to time and snaps in training camp and not in not to

01:59performance level which I did not I didn't hear that I mean is that do you

02:06think that that was the intention of Gerard Mayo is that what he was never

02:10even crossed my mind like not even trying to play devil's advocate not even

02:15like that is such a stretch it's a stretch okay all right because that

02:21would be ridiculous if that were what he was saying was that what he meant on

02:25this show was that he had outplayed him snap wise snap count wise but that would

02:31be ridiculous let's go around the room who believes that Gerard Mayo wants

02:35Jacoby Bercette to start week one I don't I don't think he does okay so it

02:40stands to reason that he's maybe saying that to someone because he's being told

02:45what to do so then where he was capping on the question we asked them is when he

02:51said I have final say yeah he and he like you know he was kind of said it

02:57adamantly like I have final say when it comes to depth shot I think I asked him

03:01that when it comes to depth shot and starters I'm not talking about bringing

03:05guys in who you draft in free agents you know retaining guys none of that

03:09depth shot and starters who has final say is it the offensive coordinator when

03:17it comes to the offense he stops here that's why we did it again yes he did

03:23it again in that answer he said we I mean I have full confidence because he

03:27went into this thing telling everybody how collaborative it was gonna be and so

03:31he's trying to walk the line between collaborative and between making the

03:34final decision I think the confusing I'm sorry Greg the confusing part to me

03:39real quick is when he goes we know what Jacoby Bercette can do he's played a lot

03:46of which is not very much right so so what is this season that that's the

03:49biggest question I have then what is this season then if you know what your

03:54Kobe Bercette is as a starting quarterback you're not gonna win many

03:57games so you're just basically saying we're putting a guy out there that we

04:02feel like who is a pretty good backup we know what Jacoby can do
