'Active treachery': CFMEU launches High Court challenge over administration

A High Court challenge has been launched after the construction union was placed into administration, with the commonwealth accused of "active treachery". Former CFMEU national president Jade Ingham confirmed the High Court challenge had been filed on Tuesday, September 4, 2024 accusing the federal government of union bashing. Video via AAP.

00:05is allowed to stand. It is the rank and file members of our union and indeed of all unions

00:12who stand to lose the most. It's our belief that the entire thing is unconstitutional

00:16and undemocratic. There is a great team of barristers and lawyers that are working on this,

00:21people that are concerned about what this means for our country. I mean essentially

00:28if they don't win this fight there is no point in having a legal justice system. Politicians

00:34will be able to make laws on a whim. Any political party that's engaged in union bashing over the

00:41years never survives. It's not a very smart political play, it's never worked for the

00:46conservatives and I'm really really surprised that the Labor Party thought that it would work

00:50for them but history will condemn this treachery and the truth will set all of us free.
