00:06We're going to stop saying

00:08Who the shooter was I mean it appears obviously it was one of the two brothers

00:15But we don't know for sure

00:18Which one so this makes an incredibly?

00:23complex story even more so absolutely so

00:27Let's say that you know one or the other is alive is being questioned and the other is not alive and

00:35either way

00:3720 children are dead those are the new numbers

00:4020 children are dead so are six adults plus the shooter

00:45Yeah, we're gonna go take you to a press conference that happened at the hospital at Danbury Hospital

00:52Just a short while ago again. This is on tape it did happen a short while ago

00:55But we did hear lieutenant Vance that say that two of the children died at an area hospital

01:02So let's listen in to that presser from Danbury Hospital to see what they have to say there

01:06The community who still need our support and we are operating a crisis intervention service

01:27And unfortunately I cannot disclose any information about patients who are in the hospital at this time at a risk out of respect

01:34for their privacy

01:36As well as because this is an active and ongoing investigation the state police are involved

01:41So I won't be able to take any questions about the number of patients who are here or their status

01:48Thank you very much

01:52I can make no comment about those patients

01:59We have not received their permission to do so

02:05We are providing medical care to them at this time

02:08And we have not gotten into discussions about any information that can or should be released

02:16I cannot

02:22We received three patients at this hospital, yes

02:29I have no further questions, or I have no comment on the status of any of our patients. I simply cannot

02:35Provide any details on their condition at this time

02:38And I urge you to cooperate with me in this regard given the sensitivity of the situation

02:46I have no further comments on the status of the patients who were brought here earlier today

02:50I simply am not able to provide you with any additional details

03:03We always provide that service, but now we are coordinating a much more comprehensive response with many other community agencies

03:10But we'd like to have a single point of contact so that phone number can be called and we will triage

03:16There's the appropriate services to the individual who's calling based upon their needs

03:24There are a number of local agencies within Connecticut as well as those offered by the state to provide a whole variety of

03:31Services to patients who might need them both here and in Newtown and other areas of the community

03:40We are already in the community we have sent out mobile crisis teams to the community

03:47Personally as to what happened today

03:51But it's the most traumatic events I've ever experienced or even

03:57considered it is unthinkable and

04:01We're all hurting here, but we're also all professionals

04:05We are committed to providing the care that the community accounts on us for

04:10But this is as you know as I said earlier

04:13this is our community and a lot of people live in Newtown work in Newtown and

04:19We're all hurting they were mobilized within 10 minutes

04:22we

04:26We activated four separate trauma teams we had 80 people waiting in the emergency room. They were mobilized within 10 minutes

04:34We had every

04:36surgical subspecialty

04:38On-site we had

04:48Nurses paramedics we were fully ready to provide the care and we did

04:53And when something like this happens are you thinking about the tragedy itself or just focusing on care or trying to block that out?

05:03It's always

05:05Most important that we provide care sometimes

05:08It's hard not to think about what you're seeing and what you're looking at, but everyone was very professional

05:13I was in there when the victims arrived and I have great praise

05:18for the people who were able to keep their composure and

05:21Really coordinate their services instantaneously to provide any and all interventions that we could

05:29Correct

05:34As I said earlier, I'm really unable to provide you with any details regarding the status of the patients who were brought here

05:47The number remains at three

05:51Obviously

05:57We're concerned about those who either witnessed the shooting or reacting to it and there are a variety of

06:04traumatic stress reactions that we anticipate and we will provide

06:10psychiatry psychiatric nurses

06:12nurse practitioners social workers

06:14And I think that the crisis intervention team will make an assessment as to the most appropriate care and we will render it
