This weatherman rescued a chicken from a snowstorm... and then they started doing weather forecasts together

00:00You won't find a chicken more pampered or taken care of.

00:07I've been a weatherman for 40 years, and I've never seen a chicken during a snowstorm.

00:20I thought my mind was playing tricks on me.

00:22It's supposed to be four degrees that night, so I tried to capture her and all I had was

00:27some potato chips.

00:35It wasn't a quick grab-and-go kind of a thing.

00:38I did slip.

00:46It certainly took a little while to catch her, but with the help of another gentleman

00:51we trapped her.

00:54During my live shot, a chicken walked up to me in about seven inches of snow.

01:00So I picked the chicken up, and we're really good friends now.

01:05My roommate and I decided to take her home.

01:09We could clean out that green basket.

01:14You'd fit in there perfect.

01:22We brought her home so we could rehab her, because she was so skinny.

01:25She ate immediately, and she's been so easy to take care of.

01:31Did you just take a bath?

01:34She was wet in the rain.

01:37You a good girl?

01:40I had a little health scare.

01:42I had a small, mini stroke.

01:43I thought it ended my career, actually.

01:45I was fighting depression at the time.

01:48So she's been part of my rehab, and I was part of her rehab.

01:54She kind of gave me a little bit of purpose again.

02:03She follows me around now like a dog.

02:07I spent a little bit of time through speech therapy, and I spent some time to try to get

02:11my mind straight a little bit there, because being a weatherman is strictly off the top

02:15of your head.

02:20Now I have a podcast, and I do the weather.

02:23I swear she loves being on camera, because she can see herself.

02:27The minute I get on, people are like, where's Penny?

02:30She's been like a celebrity ever since.

02:32She is about to fall asleep.

02:34She's never fallen asleep on camera before.

02:44Now that she's a part of the family, it's all been well worth it.
