A delegation from Taiwan’s outlying Kinmen Islands is pushing for China to reopen tourism links. China stopped its citizens making independent and group trips to Taiwan in 2019 and 2020, restrictions that are still largely in place.

A delegation led by officials from Jinmen's local government is expected to meet with Chinese officials in Beijing on Thursday.

There are still tense relations between the Taiwanese and Chinese governments,

but officials in Jinmen hope they can build on the goodwill they have with China to welcome tourists back and boost their economy.
