Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosts exhibition celebrating a century of beautiful football shirts

A football shirt partly made of gold honouring Lionel Messi is the centrepiece of a new exhibition at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium displaying a century of football shirt art.

00:00Our earliest work in the exhibition is a Russian constructivist called Barbara Stepanovna,

00:29who designed these amazing gender-neutral football kits, and these amazing geometric

00:37wonders.

00:38And so we realized there's an entire century of artists using football kits, either making

00:44football kits or using football kits as a canvas, or taking football kits and re-adapting

00:48them in some way.

00:49So that was interesting.

00:50And then we also realized that there are tons of professional football teams who've been

00:54influenced in their kit design by art history.
