Looking at Archie Gray and the rise of him this season, across the Spurs fanbase he's
00:07
been really a fan favourite coming in and they went with that theme around the transfer
00:14
situation in the summer that they're going to invest in the future a bit with Bergwald
00:19
as well. How impressive has Archie Gray been coming into this side, playing out of position
00:25
as well, still delivering top performances in the top flights. What does it say for his
00:30
future and the mark he's already made on the club?
00:33
He's been absolutely imperious. I'd go as far to say he's a generational talent. I was
00:40
at the stadium last week against Ellsbourg and he just never put a foot wrong. He really
00:46
does look a class act. He reads the game so well and as you rightly say, he's played in
00:50
every position on the pitch practically by his own, which is the holding midfielder.
00:54
I think we've only seen him there for pretty much 30-40 minutes the whole season. He's
00:58
played right back, he's played left back, he's filled in at centre-back. Against Brentford
01:04
he was absolutely magnificent. You see flashes of his ability to read the game, but also
01:11
to carry the ball out as well. He's got such skill, he's very, very composed. He's had
01:16
a couple of tough moments where he's not quite pushed out quick enough with the high line
01:20
and he's been playing players onside. But he's not a natural centre-back, so that's
01:25
not to say he might become one because he's been very, very good there. But I think we're
01:29
seeing not only a future England international, I'd go as far to say we're seeing a future
01:34
Tottenham captain. If we can hang on to him, he could be the bedrock of Tottenham for the
01:39
next 10 years and beyond because he's really, really magnificent. I think there's a lot
01:43
of talk that he's becoming a natural leader in the dressing room. You saw how humble he
01:47
is with the fans there at Tamworth a few weeks ago in the FA Cup with the young lad and his
01:52
boots and exchanging the scarf. He just looks like he's come from a very good footballing
01:58
family. He's had a great grounding at Leeds. He's already establishing himself as a really,
02:04
really important player for Spurs at 18 years old. I think the benefit of bringing Kevin
02:08
Danso in and possibly another means that now we can hopefully move him into midfield and
02:15
we can really build that team around him because, as I say, he's such an exciting talent.
02:20
Thank goodness we got that deal done in the summer. That was a real plus for us in terms
02:24
of the transfer window then. Obviously, after all the negative surrounding Spurs this season,
02:30
has the young players just been that shining light? That's something that you can hold
02:34
on and if you are to look back on this season, if he needs to go trophalless, for example,
02:39
you can say it was a big building block in terms of the future of these younger players.
02:45
It's a huge experience, isn't it? You probably learn more in the face of adversity than you do
02:49
if you're winning every week. That's certainly been the case for Spurs in the last two or three
02:53
months. Like I say, Archie Gray, Luke Spurgvall, you'd even throw the likes of Jed Spence into
02:58
there. Jed Spence, lots and lots of fans have been wondering why three managers have been in
03:05
charge when Jed Spence has been at the club and he's never seen the light of day. You're seeing,
03:10
yes, again against Brentford, absolutely superb performance. Playing at left-back,
03:15
he was getting forward, he pretty much marked Mbwema out of the game. He's done the same to
03:19
Salah when we played Liverpool. Really, really strong performances and he's an exciting talent
03:24
to get him back on the right-hand side and challenge Poro for that right full-back position
03:28
when Adobe comes back. The future is definitely bright there for Jed Spence. You've got the young
03:34
goalkeeper, Kinski's coming, first clean sheet in the Premier League. He's had a decent start.
03:39
Obviously, a couple of wobbles here and there. Then you've got Mikey Moore, who scored his first
03:43
goal for Spurs in the Europa League. His experience has been invaluable to him. He's shown flashes of
03:49
just what a talent he's going to be this season. I think, to be fair to Ang, he's got to manage
03:55
these players very, very carefully. We've thrown Graeme Burgvall in. He's been a little bit more
03:59
cautious with Mikey Moore and I think that's right. You've got to manage him. He's 17 years old,
04:04
but the future is certainly bright. You'd add one or two others to that. The likes of Jamie Donnelly
04:10
out on loan at Leighton Orion. He's having a terrific run there. Certainly, a shining light
04:16
in the season has been the young players. In a lot of ways, they've perhaps shown some of the
04:22
more senior members of the Spurs squad how it's done, really. Read into that what you will in
04:27
terms of the senior players at Tottenham.
