00:00What is up guys, Drock here and welcome to episode 3 of the Otaku Podcast Network.

00:15Today we will be discussing the 2006 TV miniseries Nightmares and Dreamscapes, from the stories

00:22of Stephen King.

00:24I consider myself a Stephen King fan, and it is one of my all-time favorite movies,

00:29so I was pretty excited to check this series out because I was not aware of it.

00:34The first thing I will say is that if you are going into this series expecting to be

00:38scared, then you will be disappointed because there is nothing here that I would classify

00:42as scary, but there are a few that are entertaining.

00:46The series also contains some really big acting names, which isn't a surprise given it is

00:51a Stephen King project, but having well-known actors helps give the performances a good

00:56boost because they are performed well.

01:04EPISODE 1 BATTLEGROUND

01:05A professional hitman, played by William Hurt, receives a package of sinister toy soldiers

01:13after killing the CEO of a toy company.

01:21EPISODE 2 CROUCHEND

01:24A newlywed couple, played by Claire Forlani and Eon Bailey, goes honeymooning in London

01:30only to get lost in Crouchend, a notorious town that may be a portal to another dimension.

01:41EPISODE 3 OMNI'S LAST CASE

01:44After the death of his son, a writer, played by William H. Macy, writes himself into the

01:50story and forces his lead character, a hard-boiled detective from the 1930s, also played by Macy,

01:58to switch places with him.

02:05EPISODE 4 THE END OF THE WHOLE MESS

02:08In his last moments, a renowned filmmaker, portrayed by Ron Livingston, recalls an experiment

02:14by his genius brother, played by Henry Thomas, to end world violence, but at a horrible cost.

02:26EPISODE 5 THE ROAD VIRUS HEADS NORTH

02:29A famous horror writer, Tom Berringer, buys a gruesome painting for inspiration, only

02:34to find the painting starts changing and corresponding with sinister events in real life.

02:44EPISODE 6 THE FIFTH QUARTER

02:47A released convict, played by Jeremy Sisto, goes on a treasure hunt for stolen money,

02:52risking his family and freedom in the process.

03:00EPISODE 7 AUTOPSY ROOM 4

03:03Bitten by a venomous snake, a man, played by Richard Thomas, falls into a catatonic

03:08state.

03:09He's assumed dead and, oh boy, becomes witness to his own autopsy.

03:19EPISODE 8 YOU KNOW THEY GOT A HELL OF A BAND

03:22A couple, portrayed by Kim Delaney and Steven Weber, ignore the advice of the mysterious

03:27Cece, played by Jacinta Stapleton, and get lost in a strange place called Rock and Roll

03:33Heaven.

03:34Here, ghosts of rock and roll legends roam.

03:42If I had to pick some episodes to be my favorite, I would say it's a toss-up between episode

03:483, Omni's Last Case, because I love that classic 40s radio cop drama era of entertainment,

03:55and episode 8, You Know They Got a Hell of a Band, because I thought the episode was

04:01and I love how they had all of the classic rock and roll musicians portrayed in the episode.

04:06It was really fun.

04:08Overall, I would say that this is a fun little mini-series.

04:12The quality of the stories was very well done, and even though I was not familiar with the

04:17original source, I felt like the story came across on screen very well.

04:22And while none of them will keep you up at night from fright, they will give you a good

04:26entertaining laugh and some enjoyment.
