00:00I'm Frank Marcus with Motor Trend, and I'm here getting a look at the 2025 GMC Terrain.
00:16The GMC Terrain is GMC's entry-level SUV, and it's totally redesigned this year.
00:21It's the third generation for the Terrain.
00:23It's shared with the Chevrolet Equinox, and so this year, again, we're trying to upgrade
00:28the GMC experience from the Chevrolet a little bit.
00:31So gone are the SLT and SLE base trims.
00:35We've now got this new elevation trim, and what they're going for in the design here
00:39is the entry-level GMC SUV looking a lot like the entry-level GMC pickup truck, which is
00:45the Canyon.
00:46So we've got this more upright grille, we've got this sort of X-wing design over here around
00:51the lights, still got the C-channel lights.
00:53A lot of this whole car is inspired by other vehicles in the GMC lineup.
00:59As I said, we are going to launch with the elevation trim only for 2025, and it will
01:04also launch with a standard all-wheel drive.
01:07Front-wheel drive will come available in February of 2025.
01:11Under the hood, everything stays the same.
01:13We still have the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, good for 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet
01:20of torque.
01:21It is now connected to an eight-speed automatic, used to be a nine-speed.
01:25The front-wheel drive one will get a CVT.
01:27Above the elevation, we will still have the 84 and Denali trim levels.
01:31They will come a little bit later in 2025 as 2026 models, but we do have them here,
01:37so we'll take a look at them as well.
01:39This elevation trim that you're seeing here has the black package, and it also has the
01:44two-tone roof option.
01:46You can get a silver roof with a black car, otherwise you get a black roof with every
01:51other color available, and that's across all of the vehicles.
01:5417-inch wheels are standard on the elevation trim.
01:57If you get the black package, you get a black 19-inch wheel, and if you get the premium
02:01package, you get a 19-inch silver wheel.
02:04In the rear, we're also going for a tougher SUV look with a more upright rear window.
02:08The C-clamp taillights are extended to look a little wider across the back, and all three
02:13trim grades will get their own grills, faces, and lowers.
02:17Again, this being a black package car, it has blacked-out badging, but the elevation
02:21trim will be badged on all elevation models.
02:26Inside the GMC Terrain is also elevated for 2025.
02:30We've got the almost exact same screen here that you find in the Acadia.
02:34It has the floating volume knob down here.
02:37Very cool.
02:38Also an 11-inch cluster display as well.
02:40The look is very similar to other GMCs, the Yukon, the Acadia, again, with this vertical
02:46and then the things above it and over it.
02:49In the elevation trim, which I'm sitting in here now, there will be a dark and a light
02:53option.
02:54This is a premium package car, but all elevations will get a soft trim up here with this stitching
02:59here, this chrome trim on the doors and the dash and on the center console.
03:05The premium package gets you these bolsters that are soft-trimmed and padded.
03:10The wireless phone charging here and the digital mirror is now optional as well.
03:16Standard on all Terrain models this year is remote start, heated seats, and a heated steering
03:22wheel.
03:23Denali models will get heated rear seats and ventilated front seats.
03:28We've got these dedicated HVAC buttons down here.
03:31We've always been a big fan of buttons.
03:33We're also going to a shifter that is on the column.
03:36It's an electronic shifter, but it's a fairly typical use case.
03:40It's much more normal than the old buttons you had to push and pull.
03:44We were not big fans of those on the outgoing Terrain.
03:50So on the Denali trim, you can really see this sort of X-wing graphic a little better
03:55with the colors they choose for the Denali.
03:57Again, a lot more chrome on a Denali.
04:00You get a standard 19-inch wheel with a 20-inch optional on the Denali.
04:04And inside, you get a much dressier interior.
04:07This one is a contrast light and dark color scheme with contrast stitching on the seats
04:13and everything.
04:14Very attractive, very upscale looking.
04:17Here we have the AT4 trim grade.
04:19Again, we've got standard red tow hooks.
04:22We've got a blacked out grill, again, showing off this X pattern here.
04:28Standard 17-inch wheels with standard all-terrain tires.
04:31And of course, the big differentiator, all-wheel drive, is standard, but only in the AT4 do
04:36you get the off-road crawl modes and all of that sort of thing.
04:42Look for the GMC Terrain Elevation all-wheel drive models to start hitting dealerships
04:46later this year.
04:47Pricing has yet to be announced, but we expect to see GMC Terrain Elevation models with standard
04:53all-wheel drive to begin arriving in dealerships later this year.
04:56I'm Frank Marcus with Motor Trend.
