A lot of folks do like Brees Hall in most circles. He's the consensus number two. I
00:07
would make the case for B. John Robinson though. Personally, I want to get George's take, but
00:11
let's start with Brees Hall playing for a Jets team that is still going to run the football
00:16
regardless of however many games that Aaron Rodgers ends up playing in 2024. They are
00:22
going to be a team that plays defense too, and tries to slow down the tempo of games
00:27
and not put too much pressure on a 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers. The question is, is there enough
00:32
upside here in this offense with this game plan? You see what he did last year, 994 rushing yards,
00:38
591 receiving yards. He did have 76 receptions too. This is a guy that is younger than Christian
00:45
McCaffrey. This is a guy that, again, is leaned upon just like Christian McCaffrey. He is the
00:51
offense with Garrett Wilson. Basically, it's a very simple funnel there between those two guys.
00:56
George, let's talk about Brees Hall. If the Jets' offense can sustain a number one running
01:03
back overall in fantasy by comparison to what else is out there in the league, because no matter what
01:07
you think of the Jets this year, even if you're thinking, hey, it's going to be a much better
01:10
situation, they're going to make a run at this division, do you really think they're going to
01:13
be an explosive offense? I think that's the big question that still looms of maybe why Brees Hall
01:18
as the number one guy potentially in 2024 is still a big question, but where do you stand on Brees
01:22
Hall being a contender for that number one spot? I think he is a contender. I would not
01:29
drift in that way. And I kind of like your argument, Joe, about Bijan Robinson being
01:33
maybe the contender that we should be talking on here. If everything goes right for the Jets,
01:38
dangerous, dangerous team. There are a lot of ifs here. If Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy,
01:43
if Aaron Rodgers is at least 85% of the Aaron Rodgers he used to be, which we don't know,
01:48
if the offensive line holds up, which in my mind is a huge if here. If Mike Williams can be a true
01:53
number two wide receiver to take the pressure off of Wilson here. Lots of ifs. If they all come
01:58
through, we know the defense is dynamic, maybe number one, number two, number three in the league
02:02
in my mind at worst here. So yeah, I think there's a shot for Hall because I think what you said in
02:06
your first line is probably true. Until they know what they have in Aaron Rodgers, they're going to
02:11
want to play more ball control. The defense is going to keep them in games. They're not going
02:15
to get more than 17-20 points on average a game here. They don't need to score 30-35. They just
02:20
don't. So I think they're going to give Brees Hall plenty of chances. No clock. Let's put us
02:24
in second and six. Make life easier for everyone. Let's keep the defense off the field if we can.
02:28
Keep them fresh. That sort of thing. So I like Brees Hall a whole bunch, but to answer your
02:33
question, I don't see this being an explosive offense. I don't think that's what they want to
02:37
be. When you're throwing the ball because the only reason they can get their defense in trouble is
02:41
turnovers. Turning the ball over and if you have an explosive offense, you could have mistakes
02:46
there. And I just don't trust the offensive line. I think the Jets are still a work in progress,
02:50
especially in the first quarter of the season. If things go well, I think they'll get better
02:54
if the season goes along. I do. And I like Brees Hall. He's no worse than my third by running back
02:59
three. But to say he's going to compete for number one, can't quite go there. Interesting to see
03:05
there too. One thousand twenty five and a half. That's the Vegas number for his rushing total,
03:09
which is higher than Christian McCaffrey's who we just talked about. That's very telling. Now,
03:14
maybe they're just buying into the age. Maybe Vegas is concerned with that workload like I am.
03:18
But I think that's one of those very telling things where you say, how do the Vegas lines
03:21
impact my fantasy decisions? They're telling you they believe Brees Hall is going to be on the
03:25
field more and possibly more productive than Christian McCaffrey. They're telling you this
03:30
is the spot that builds hotels and casinos and things like that. They know exactly what they're
03:34
doing when they set these numbers. You should pay attention to them.
