Little girl grows up with two 16-foot pythons and has tea parties with them. We talked to her dad about how he introduced her to them when she was just a toddler!

00:00A well-handled snake will often be better than a typical house cat.

00:10The snakes haven't bitten us, the cats have bitten us and scratched us.

00:20No one gets to see the good nature of these animals and what they're really like when

00:24they're not being stressed out.

00:29People believe that snakes size up and measure their food, and it's the biggest myth.

00:36Snakes are ambush hunters, they don't have time to work out point of reference, so they're

00:40not able to measure up or size food.

00:44Even if they were able to somehow measure their food, their food would have wandered

00:48off by that point.

00:50When I've introduced Bimmy to both snakes, Bimmy was about two years old and snakes were

00:55only about two foot boot laces.

00:58My daughter would just hold them in her hands at the time, but now they are so big she couldn't

01:03even lift them.

01:05Oh wow, how cool is that?

01:09Cher is a gentle diva, she's very particular, she likes her routine and she likes to make

01:14sure she's got fresh water.

01:23Sonny is normally really laid back, he's actually quite a really soppy snake as well.

01:30This is amazing, I don't think he's done this before.

01:34Not like now, he's enjoying himself right now.

01:39I know.

01:45As a parent, I had to make sure that both snakes were tame and sociable to be held.

01:52I spent every day, multiple times a day, getting used to human interaction.

01:58But on the other front, I needed to make sure my daughter genuinely knew how to be gentle.

02:04As soon as she understood what she needed to do, no grabbing, no poking, just being

02:09gentle and respectful.

02:11That's all I needed from her, was to behave how I behave and she proved that to me.

02:19Are you taking a shave?

02:21I'm making you some tea too.

02:30She's never left unsupervised.

02:34She's never allowed to feed them until she's a lot older.

02:41I think snakes are just amazing, beautiful, fascinating animals.

02:45I can retreat to my snake room and get away from all the horrible stuff that's going on

02:49in the world outside.

02:51My daughter is very lucky to be given this sort of experience under the circumstances.

02:57She gets to experience the true giants of the species and she has a very rare and unique

03:03relationship with them.
