Olympic champions Jess and Noemie Fox inspire next generation of paddlers in Penrith

Before they were Olympic champions, Jess and Noemie Fox were mastering their craft at the western Sydney whitewater club. Now the sisters are role-models for the next generation of competitors.

00:00From Penrith to Paris, the Fox sisters are setting the standard for kids back home.

00:09Because when I grow up I want to be like Jessica Fox.

00:14The Western Sydney Club trains in Penrith Whitewater Stadium, still considered state

00:19of the art, 25 years after the paddling facility was built for the Sydney Olympics.

00:25Today it remains the only venue of its kind in the country.

00:30And an epic stomping ground for the nation's young paddlers.

00:34It's really unique because you have the Australian Olympic team, the national team, that high

00:40performance level athlete mixing with kids that have only just started.

00:44The club has provided the opportunity to see friends turn into legends.

00:49I did paddle with Jess, I was on the national team with her when I was near the end of my

00:54career and Jess was just starting hers.

00:56It's so inspiring for the young kids out there and even for us older paddlers to see what

01:04Jess has been able to achieve and keeps achieving every day.

01:08It's mind blowing.

01:10It's like everyone calls her Jessica Fox and we call her just Jess and it's almost like

01:14we're just friends with her.

01:16The next generation of pro paddlers going for gold.
