00:00Jurors failed to reach a verdict in the trial of Hassan Janga at Sheffield Crown Court who was accused of the murder of Good Samaritan Chris Marriott and of injuring four others when he drove his car into a crowd of people situated on a cul-de-sac in the Burngreave area of Sheffield.
00:18Mr Marriott had stopped to help a woman lying in the street and was injured as he attempted to come to her aid. She was one of the four others who were injured in the fatal incident.
00:29The jury of six men and six women spent seven days deliberating but were unable to reach a verdict and they were subsequently discharged from the trial on the 25th of July.
00:42We are now expecting to hear from the Crown Prosecution Service in the coming days as to whether they intend to seek a retrial in the case of Mr Janga.
