00:00An analyst has played down an Amana youth leader's threat of going up against UMNO

00:11Political analyst Azrul Hadi Abdullasani said Amana would not dare go against its Pakatan

00:16Harapan allies for fear of alienating them, while its state leadership would likely abide

00:20by the directive of the coalition's central leadership.

00:24Another analyst, Academy Nusantara's Azmi Hassan, warned that BN will respond in kind

00:29in other state assembly elections if Amana does decide to run against UMNO in Makota,

00:34a Johor state assembly seat.

00:37Citing UMNO's incumbency and long history in Makota, having held the seat since its

00:41creation in 2004 before losing it to Amana in 2018, Azmi said the party should be allowed

00:46to defend the seat.

00:48He added that PH was likely to lose the seat to BN again, citing the results of the 2022

00:53Johor polls, which saw the late Sharifa Aziza side Zayn, defeating Amana's Takiyuddin

00:58Cheyman with a 5,166-vote majority.

01:02Yesterday, Tluang Amana laid claim to the Makota seat, which fell vacant following the

01:07death of Sharifa last Friday, prompting breakbacks from several UMNO leaders.
