Sunway breaks ground for RM1bil largest mall in Perak

PERAK is set to have its largest shopping mall in Sunway Ipoh Mall when it is completed in 2027.  Construction for the RM1bil mall has begun on a 9.2ha piece of land in Sunway City Ipoh in Tambun and it would also be the first one in the state to have an ice-skating rink. 00:17Alongside Sunway Group Founder and Chairman Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Chia,

00:21Perak Mentri Besar, Datuk Sri Saarani Mohamad graced the event as the guest of honour

00:27together with Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumai Zibaharin and other dignitaries from different state departments.

00:57With a total development cost of more than 1 billion ringgit, Sunway City Mall will span

01:20over 1 million square feet of net lettable area across four retail floors, with Perak's first

01:25ice-skating rink among other facilities. Chia said he is confident that the mall would attract many visitors.

01:55Chia said this latest addition to Sunway City Ipoh is part of Sunway's plans to create Perak's largest

02:22integrated township that comprises theme park, hospitality, healthcare, education, residential

02:29and commercial components. I have a vision and I know we can do it. We have to rehabilitate all

02:36this wasteland into livable land. You know that's what we have done on the 800 acres in Kuala Lumpur.

02:45So I think it's a challenge but we will do it now. Sunway City Ipoh is currently worth 2 billion

02:53ringgit in gross development value and Sunway has committed a further 4 billion ringgit to

02:57expand Sunway City Ipoh in the next 10 years.
