00:00Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, Ursula Doyle, who will give you an update in relation to the murders.
00:06The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Merseyside Police to charge a 17-year-old boy
00:11of Banks, Lancashire, with three counts of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder,
00:17following the tragic incident that took place in Southport this week.
00:21He will appear at Liverpool City Magistrates' Court on Thursday 1st August 2024.
00:28Whilst these charges are a significant milestone within this investigation,
00:33this remains very much a live investigation and we continue to work with our partners
00:39from Lancashire Police and Counter Terrorism Policing North West.
00:43I would like to thank all the forces who have offered and supplied support to Merseyside Police
00:48during the last three days and I can confirm that we are being
00:52supported with investigative resources from across the North West.
