2024 SuperCupNI: Linfield Minor manager James Daly

James Daly was a pleased man as Linfield reached the SuperCupNI final of the Minor section.

00:00James, a 3-2 win against Kilmarnock in the final, can you sum that up for us please?

00:05Listen, it was a really good game. The boys were fantastic from minute one right till the very end.

00:11They're a very good side, there's no two ways about it. You don't get to a semi-final Super Cup and that'd be a good side.

00:16They beat Cliftonville, who my mate's the manager and he spoke very highly of them as well.

00:21He knew the big lad up front was going to cause us problems and he did and he scores a very good goal at the end there and makes it edgy.

00:27In the first half their keeper was brilliant, they were putting their bodies on the lane but we just kept going.

00:32Sometimes your head can drop when you're plugging away and plugging away and nothing comes for you.

00:36We scored different goals, scored set-pieces, we scored rebounders.

00:40It's always good to score different ways and some of the football was very good.

00:44You get to be a Thursday at a Super Cup and the boys are playing all week and they're tired and they're leggy.

00:49The boys just dug a wee bit deep there and we managed to go through.

00:52They're doing really, really well, they deserve everything coming their way.

00:55First-team boss David Healy there and I'm sure he'll be looking for a few boys coming through in the years to come.

01:00The gaffer's been brilliant, he came down yesterday and he spoke to the boys at half-time against Glen Eavan.

01:05Then he spoke to the boys the day before the game.

01:07He's not in giving team talks or anything, he's just in to show his support and to show that he's here.

01:12The club as a whole is unbelievable.

01:14The chairman was down on Monday and Willie McEwan's here and Ross Oliver and George McCartney.

01:19The club is very supportive and Speig's here and the board of directors.

01:22The support the boys get from their parents and everything is brilliant

01:26but the support they get from the club as a whole is second to none and they really appreciate it.

01:29We appreciate it too, the help we get as well.

01:31In the finals tomorrow at the Showgrounds at 11, you'll either be Crusaders or Celtic, any preference?

01:36We know Crusaders really well and we get on really well with Crusaders.

01:40Their manager's a gentleman and me and him get on really well.

01:43He was helping me before the Super Cup and I was helping him with reports on different teams.

01:47We know nothing about Celtic.

01:49Preference, from a selfish point of view, you'd probably want to play Celtic because we'll play Crusaders in the league

01:54and we'll probably play them quite a few times.

01:56I wish both the teams all the very best and may the best team win.
