00:08An award-winning Preston Indian restaurant and takeaway has announced its southern closure.

00:13Amman Bar in Sharrow Green Lane seized trading with immediate effect on Sunday. Owner Sid

00:19Rahman said he was left with no option but to close due to complications with the lease

00:23and the current global business climate. The 43-year-old said a decision was made to not

00:28renew the lease, but that he hopes to open a new restaurant and takeaway elsewhere in

00:33the city in the future. Amman Bar was voted takeaway of the year by Lancashire Post readers

00:38in 2019, and boasted five stars after receiving 233 favourable reviews on Google.

00:46A well-known Blackpool entertainer appeared on yesterday's Loose Women as a special guest

00:50who proposed to his boyfriend on the show. Liam Hailwood, 38, was in the front row of

00:56the audience when he got on one knee to propose to partner Michael Hopkins, 43. Loose Women

01:01presenter Colleen Nolan, who grew up in the resort and is a friend of Liam's, made it

01:05all possible and interrupted the show to introduce the pair after a commercial break. During

01:10the interval, Liam had presented Michael with a silver-coloured titanium diamond ring. As

01:15the cameras returned, Colleen, 59, said,

01:18There's been a proposal. During the break, my friend Liam, who is in the audience, proposed

01:22to his partner, Michael. And as the film clip of the proposal was then shown, and the

01:27audience applauded, Colleen added,

01:29It was so romantic. We wish you all the best. We really do. And we wait for the invitation.

01:34Liam, who is well known on the Falcos for his uncanny look and sound-alike tributes

01:39to Boy George, wanted to give Michael a day to remember.

01:45A vision for how the Lancaster district should look in the 2040s is the subject of a new

01:49consultation and series of drop-in events from Lancaster City Council. Earlier this

01:55year, the council started work on a new local plan, which will set out opportunities for

02:00the housing, jobs and infrastructure that are needed by a growing population. The plan

02:05will also update the policies that are used to make decisions about planning proposals.

02:10As part of the process of drafting the local plan, the council is now asking people for

02:14their views on a draft vision for the district. It covers the eight themes of

02:18securing economic prosperity, meeting our housing needs and delivering the right type

02:24of housing, transport and connectivity, healthy lifestyles and safe communities, making sure

02:30infrastructure is in the right place, addressing the climate emergency, nature recovery and

02:36biodiversity, and finally, protecting landscapes and townscapes.

02:42A £600,000 revamp of Castle Street in Calivero has been completed ahead of schedule, with

02:48residents being invited to come and see the improvements for themselves. The work is

02:52part of a public realm improvement project being carried out jointly between Lancashire

02:57County Council and Ribble Valley Borough Council. A full road closure was due to be in place

03:02until the end of July, however, the road has now been fully reopened. It comes as the town

03:07prepares to host its annual Calivero Food Festival on August 10th, which attracts around

03:1220,000 visitors from across the UK.

03:16Writer and broadcaster Lem Sissi is offering to pay £10,000 for a leaflet advertising his

03:22services when he lived in the borough. He is trying to trace the flyer which promoted his

03:27gutter cleaning business in Atherton in the 1980s. On X, formerly known as Twitter, he said,

03:33This morning I announced a £10,000 reward on BBC Radio Manchester for anyone who finds and

03:38gives me my Aswad gutter cleaning leaflet, which was designed by Mr Dinsdale of Atherton

03:44in the mid to late 1980s. Lem lived in foster care in Ashton and children's home in Leigh,

03:50Lawton and Atherton before he moved into his first flat on the Poets' Corner housing estate

03:55in Atherton at the age of 17. He is now one of the country's most acclaimed writers, being the

04:00official poet of the 2012 London Olympics and the Chancellor of the University of Manchester

04:05from 2015 to 2020. The 57-year-old is also a regular face on television. Now for the weather,

04:11today is going to be very cloudy across Lancashire, but thankfully rain is minimal and some sun

04:16should try and peep through, particularly in the evening. It will also be fairly hot,

04:21with average temperatures of 17 degrees that only drop to 16 after 9pm.
