00:00
Morning, my name's Jack Marshall and these are your headlines from across the North West.
00:06
An ex-el bully type dog has been seized by police after attacking a woman in Preston.
00:12
Police were called to Kingsway, a quiet residential street in Ashton where the woman was mauled
00:17
by the loose dog around 8.44pm on Monday June 24th.
00:22
Officers seized the out of control dog while paramedics treated the woman who suffered
00:26
serious bites to her chest and leg.
00:28
She was taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
00:32
A Blackpool mum who uses a wheelchair said she felt embarrassed and discriminated against
00:36
after being told a meal deal could only be served upstairs and not on her restaurant's
00:40
lower floor.
00:41
Becky Halliwell had gone out to the West Coast Rock Cafe on Abingdon Street with her husband
00:46
Andy and some pals, specifically to enjoy the Mexican meal deal on offer, but was told
00:51
that the food items she wanted, including the half-priced fajitas, were only available
00:56
upstairs and could not be served on the restaurant's smaller ground floor space, which was the
01:01
only one she could access.
01:03
Robert Wynne, the owner of West Coast, said the incident was regrettable and one that
01:08
he and the team would have to reflect on to avoid similar disappointment in the future.
01:13
A fed-up mum is taking legal action against a builder she claims owes £4,800 for failing
01:18
to do work on her Wigan home.
01:20
In April, Abbey Ashcroft and her husband Thomas hired Stephen Mooney of RS Building Services
01:25
to do three jobs on the property and claims she was told that work on the roof, windows
01:30
and doors would be completed within five weeks.
01:33
After paying a £6,800 deposit, Mrs Ashcroft alleges that Mr Mooney started to fail to
01:38
turn up and after three weeks they decided to cancel the rest of the work.
01:42
Mrs Ashcroft says she asked him to finish the roof and either return the remaining £4,800
01:49
or give them the materials he had bought.
01:51
She claims he agreed to deliver the materials and complete the work on the roof, but this
01:55
has still not been done.
01:57
Mr Mooney himself claims that Mrs Ashcroft refused him access to the site four times,
02:01
citing domestic matters and illness, so he's not been able to do the work.
02:06
Police are looking to speak to a certain person after a large-scale fight in Paddyham left
02:11
a man unconscious.
02:13
Officers were called shortly after 4.30pm on Saturday May 18th to a report of a disturbance
02:18
on Wells Street where a number of people were fighting.
02:20
During a fight, a man in his 50s was knocked to the ground and briefly lost consciousness.
02:24
He is now recovered.
02:26
A hotly debated project to upgrade two blocks of flats in Lancaster has been given the go-ahead.
02:32
A planning application for improvements to Loon House and Derby House in Skirton as part
02:37
of a wider regeneration work was backed by councillors at a Lancaster City Council planning
02:42
meeting this week.
02:43
The project, which will include new flat roofs to replace existing pyramid-shaped roofs,
02:48
new balconies, doors and windows, new brickwork and a new communal and courtyard area, has
02:54
been the focus of political debate and protests over affordable homes and council housing
02:59
in recent months.
03:00
On to the weather now, and the Met Office is forecasting a cloudy start to the day,
03:03
which is set to clear up and lead to another very warm day with plenty of sunny spells
03:07
across Lancashire.
03:09
Temperatures are also expected to remain light, with maximum temperatures of around 27 degrees
03:13
Celsius.
03:14
Thanks very much for watching, have a lovely day.
