The prolonged drought, linked to the El Nino phenomenon and climate change, has cut cereal
00:23
production by more than 75% and left at least 7.6 million people in need of humanitarian
00:29
aid.
00:30
That's almost half of the population.
00:33
Children under the age of five, pregnant women and new mothers are most affected.

Early July, they received an insurance payout of over $16 million from the African Risk
01:08
Capacity Group, designed to help African Union member states plan, prepare and better respond
01:14
to extreme weather events.
01:15
The payout is complemented by payouts to our AAC replica partners amounting to $6.1 million
01:21
to the WFP and $8.9 million to Stap Network.
01:27
Zimbabwe will therefore receive a total of $31.8 million from this payout.
01:34
International organisations are also trying to raise money for Zimbabwe.
01:38
The UN launched a $430 million donation campaign in early June.
01:43
