Stockport tennis star Liam Broady looks ahead to Davis Cup returning to Manchester after Wimbledon fever

Fresh from being in action at Wimbledon, Stockport's Liam Broady talks about his US Open plans and the Davis Cup returning to Manchester.

00:00Men's tennis now with the retirement of Federer with obviously Andy on his way

00:04to retirement and Dal on his way to retirement that there are a lot of

00:07players that are potentially capable of winning Wimbledon and winning

00:13other slams so obviously Sinha, Alcaraz, Djokovic, Massetti in the

00:18semi-finals now we have all sorts of players it's the most open I've seen

00:22men's tennis in a long long time. Well I mean to be honest Massetti surprised me

00:26I didn't think that he would be able to do as well on the grass as he has done

00:29I mean to beat Fritz the way that he did and I mean it's gonna be a tough

00:34ask against Djokovic but you know once you've gone deep in a tournament like

00:38that you're filled with confidence and you become a very different player I

00:41think Henry Searle he's a young British guy he won junior Wimbledon last year I

00:45think he's gonna be one to watch over the over the coming years and Jacob

00:48Fearnley as well I think he's gonna be one to watch he took a set off Novak

00:51Djokovic in the second round so a few of the British guys doing well too. I'm

00:56gonna be going over to the to the USA to prepare for the US Open so that's

01:00about five or six weeks away now so I'm gonna go down to London today start

01:05training over the weekend Tuesday I fly out to America. I think Davis Cup would

01:10be a great way to sort of whet your appetite for the sport if you if you

01:14have kids that you want to get interested in sports Davis Cup is a

01:16great place to start like I said you can get really loud you know you can you can

01:22chant you can shout you can the players are really interactive with the crowd as

01:25well they want the support you can obviously support the country I think

01:32that would be a great way to sort of start and and then I think you can

01:37obviously search up online about your local clubs if you if you want your kids

01:40or yourself to get involved in tennis from a playing perspective as well. It

01:45was my dad who who inspired me to play the sport he was the one who first got

01:49me to pick up a racket he was the one who kept me playing even when the going

01:52got tough at times you know he always carried on taking me to matches taking

01:57me to training it was kind of his his life's work you know to keep me playing

02:02the sport so if it wasn't for him then I probably never would have played and I

02:05never would have kept on playing
