00:00The first day of the presidential campaign in Venezuela closed Thursday with thousands of President Maduro's supporters marching towards the central plaza behind Mila Ferrer's palace,
00:10where President Nicolás Maduro addressed his supporters and the Venezuelan people in general.
00:14Our correspondent Yunus Soner with more.
00:18Good evening from Caracas, the capital city of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
00:23where an hour ago the great victory march has ended.
00:28Actually, behind me, here on the scene, has held a speech the current President Nicolás Maduro,
00:35who is the candidate of the Great Patriotic Pole and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.
00:41With this march, here on the western side, accompanied by a huge march on the eastern side of Caracas,
00:49the campaign for the presidential elections on July 28 officially started.
00:55The march here on the west of the city has started in the Avenida Libertador,
01:00approximately 3.5 km from here, in the afternoon at 2 o'clock, under a huge heat actually,
01:08but still thousands and thousands of people have gathered to join this march,
01:14celebrating the official start of the campaign.
01:17Among the participants were especially a lot of working people, peasants as well, service sector,
01:24let's say the popular sectors of the Venezuelan society were very present.
01:29We spoke to them, we spoke to several of them, and we noticed that they expect the campaign with a feeling of joy.
01:36A lot of them were dancing, there was a lot of music, several tracks were playing loud music,
01:43there was live music on the march, walking these 3.5 km till this.
01:48They were also very confident that Nicolás Maduro will win the elections on July 28.
01:54They were even overwhelmed by the participation.
01:58Some of them did not even expect that much people to attend this meeting, so they were overwhelmed.
02:05And this meeting, together with the meeting, the march in the east of the Caracas,
02:11as well as other activities throughout the whole country,
02:15has started the presidential race on the side of the government,
02:19on the side of the Great Patriotic Pole and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.
02:24That evening finished with the speech of Nicolás Maduro, the president, here behind me,
02:30with the crowds attending this meeting after maybe 4 hours of participating in the march,
02:36still dancing until the end of the speech.
02:40And I think the president has left this day, this march, again, the great victory march,
02:47with a huge morale and huge additional confidence.
02:52This is the impression from here, from Caracas, the capital of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
