I think it's really important to say that obviously football does not cause domestic
00:06
abuse and alcohol does not cause domestic abuse, but where there is already abuse and
00:11
coercive and controlling and aggressive behaviours within a relationship and within a family,
00:17
we know that this becomes more frequent and more severe during or after the big games.
00:24
No More Injury Time is a campaign created by multiple charities including Solace and
00:29
the National Centre for Domestic Violence, wherein an alternative England kit has been
00:34
created to symbolise the phrase that, quote, when we lose, she loses more. Solace charity's
00:39
CEO, Nahar Choudhury, said women experience domestic abuse all year round, but with heightened
00:45
tensions and disappointments, many abusers will take out their frustrations on their
00:50
partner. If you're concerned about somebody you know
00:53
about a loved one, how do you best support them? What do you do? And that can be really
00:59
challenging and often it's family and friends who are the person that somebody might go
01:03
to first and might talk to. We want to raise awareness with health professionals. Often
01:10
it might be a GP somebody talks to. And we want to raise awareness as well with men out
01:16
there. There's some really good men who might just be really worried about their behaviour.
01:20
There's lots of pressures. We want to provide a really unjudgmental service, but we want
01:25
men to get in touch if they feel, you know what, I might be behaving in a way that isn't
01:30
good for my family, isn't good for my partner, and certainly is not good for my children,
01:35
but I don't know how to stop it. We can provide that support, advice, guidance, judgment,
01:41
and really look at behaviour change with men as well. So I think it has to be a really
01:46
holistic look at the whole family, look at the wider community and look at our political
01:51
and social structures to try and change this.
