Extreme heat is sticking around for a lot of the Northeast for days to come, with just a little relief.
Transcript
00:00But Melissa, is there any relief in sight for this?
00:02Well, for some, yes.
00:04For others, maybe not as much as we'd like.
00:06So there's gonna be more records challenge boards
00:09as we go through the weekend.
00:10Let's talk numbers and to do that,
00:12we'll open up the big board and start with some maps.
00:16First off, we already know there's heat advisories,
00:18excessive heat warnings still in place in the Northeast,
00:20even as that thunderstorm watch gets a little light,
00:23you're just revealing more underneath that.
00:25So we do know the heat's with us
00:27and for places like Baltimore,
00:28gotta show you the beautiful views out there.
00:31It stays hot, 86 degrees as we head through this evening,
00:34courtesy of EarthKAM in Baltimore
00:37and there is not much relief.
00:38So this is one of the hot spots, if you will.
00:40Check out the forecast.
00:42We go up through the weekend to Sunday, 101 for that high,
00:47some relief Monday at 93 degrees,
00:50but even that's not much for us
00:51and we continue the heat into Wednesday.
00:55So there are a lot of numbers here that are pretty hot,
00:59pretty uncomfortable.
01:00When can we get relief?
01:01We will get some through the interior.
01:03You can see Saturday into Sunday,
01:04cold front advances into the Great Lakes
01:07and that's gonna keep shifting its way on East
01:09as we head into Monday.
01:11There are changes for us in time,
01:13but they're gonna be short-lived.
01:14We're not gonna necessarily see a long reprieve
01:16from the heat.
01:17So the heat is there for us Saturday.
01:19Heat wave continues in places like Detroit, for example,
01:22where we're in the mid 90s to start off the weekend.
01:25Same thing for Pittsburgh, St. Louis, 97 four-year high
01:29and AccuWeather Reelfill temperatures.
01:31They're in the upper 90s, if not triple digits for many.
01:34Take a look at where that map is,
01:36that area zooms up to the Canadian border.
01:40But Saturday afternoon,
01:41thunderstorms are out there for us
01:42and some of those could be severe
01:44with hail and isolated tornadoes.
01:46How does this change things for us?
01:47Well, eventually with time,
01:49it will knock the numbers down, but not for Sunday.
01:51Places like Baltimore, Washington, DC headed to records.
01:55Philadelphia could tie a record set back in 1888.
01:59But finally Monday, you wanna see relief?
02:02There it is across the Ohio Valley.
02:04So we're starting to drop down some of those numbers.
