PCG assures protection for fisherfolk in the West Philippine Sea amid China’s controversial 'no trespassing' policy

00:00Back up. A reassuring physical presence fisherfolk in the West Philippine need
00:04and pleaded for the Philippine Coast Guard to predicate their words or
00:08promises into action and protection when they cast their nets or lines for their
00:12daily catch and livelihood in these disputed waters. Our Daniel Manalastas
00:17has more on the fishermen's worries and apprehensions given the Chinese threat
00:22to nab and detain them once they are caught.
00:26Some fishermen at the Bahaudimasin loch are not deterred in light of China's new
00:31law against trespassing.
00:51However despite showing courage fishermen also asked for the government's
00:56help particularly an assistance from our Coast Guard.
01:26In light of China's new law the BRP Manapascua and BRP Sindangan
01:37conducted a maritime patrols in certain areas of Bahaudimasin loch last June 16
01:43to ensure fishermen's safety but despite this some fishermen also claimed they
01:48are hurting when it comes to their incomes.
