A former social club could be turned into a boarding school for children with special needs - the vacant West Leeds Sports and Social Club in Armley could be converted into a residential facility for 20 youngsters.

00:06The plan would see the vacant West Leeds Sports and Social Club in Armley converted into a
00:11residential facility for 20 young people.
00:14Youth Hubs is a provider of services for children with special education needs and disabilities,
00:20and has applied for the planning permission.
00:22The Red Shore Road Club closed in 2019 and has since fallen victim to vandalism and fly
00:27tipping.
00:28A statement said the new school would help meet the needs of children with challenging
00:32emotional behaviours in partnership with Leeds City Council.
00:35The venue would be designed to provide a safe, structured and supportive environment and
00:40would see the ground floor converted into five classrooms along with a dining area,
00:44offices and a sports hall.
00:46The two upper floors would house ensuite student bedrooms, medical rooms and recreation areas.
00:51The West Leeds Amateur Rugby League Football Club, who are also based at the site, support
00:56the proposal.
