China Premier Li Qiang visits: Australia and China discuss trade and partnership

Anthony Albanese meets with China's Premier Li Qiang at Parliament House to discuss the countries' partnership. Prime Minister Albanese delivers a speech on the mutual agreements between China and Australia.

00:00Premier Li is the first Chinese Premier to visit Australia since 2017.

00:07His visit is a substantial one, taking in three cities and touching on issues right across our relationship.

00:15Australia and China have renewed and revitalised our engagement.

00:19We have agreed across a range of MOUs and arrangements today

00:23that will continue to shape and drive our practical cooperation

00:28as we continue the process of stabilising the relationship.

00:33We have agreed an MOU on education and research,

00:36building on a long shared history in this area, including through exchange of students.

00:43We have also agreed on several arrangements to deepen our economic, trade and investment relationship

00:50through dialogue on economic issues and work under our free trade agreement.

00:55And we committed to deepening our cultural links.

00:58Trade supports one in four Australian jobs,

01:02and China remains, overwhelmingly, Australia's largest trading partner.

01:09Australian farmers, miners and exporters are already seeing the benefits

01:15from the removal of trade impediments, benefits that flow throughout our economy.

01:21Chinese consumers too are benefiting from being able to buy our high quality exports.

01:27Trade between our two nations will continue to help Australian businesses grow.
