Rishi Sunak has walked into a fresh row and this time it's all about Sky TV.
00:04
After barely recovering from the D-Day debacle,
00:07
the PM has come under fire once more for what he said in an ITV interview.
00:11
In fact, the exact interview he left the D-Day commemorations for.
00:15
When reflecting on the sacrifices his family had to make growing up,
00:18
Sunak landed on something quite niche.
00:20
What sort of things had to be sacrificed?
00:22
Lots of things.
00:24
Can you give me an example?
00:25
All sorts of things, like lots of people.
00:27
There'll be all sorts of things that I would have wanted as a kid that I couldn't have, right?
00:31
Famously, Sky TV.
00:34
So that was something that we never had growing up, actually.
00:37
The PM said he went without, quote, lots of things as a child
00:40
so that he could be sent to private boarding school Winchester College in Hampshire.
00:44
And as expected, he's faced a barrage of criticism.
00:47
There's been huge backlash online and users on X haven't held back.
00:51
Not only that, but he apologised for being late to the interview
00:54
and blames it on the D-Day events that, quote, ran over.
00:57
Incredible, but it just ran over.
01:00
So apologies for keeping you.
01:01
It's not a great look for Rishi Sudhak coming on top of the suggestion that he's out of touch,
01:07
too rich, too uncaring, frankly, to really get what ordinary Britons are going through.
01:12
If you remember the other day when he gave his debate performance against Keir Starmer,
01:18
the first question was from a woman who
01:20
explained just how hard the cost of living crisis has hit her.
01:24
Coming on top of stories like that, this really doesn't resonate well with voters, I wouldn't think.
01:29
If you want to see the slightly awkward events unfold in full,
01:32
the interview is going out on ITV tonight.
