Fires, floods and heatwaves plague Europe as extreme weather persists

While Turkey and Cyprus have been hit with heatwaves, parts of Spain have seen record rainfall.

00:00Turkey is being hit by a heat wave, with air temperatures 8 to 12 degrees above usual,

00:09impacting local lives. The western and southern coasts of the country are already dealing

00:15with extreme heat. However, the thermometer continues to rise. There are fears that these

00:21hot temperatures could cause fires, especially around the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea.

00:30In Murcia, a yellow weather warning for rain and storms is in place. Between 60 and 65

00:37litres per square metre fell in one hour in the Murcian town of Calasparra, where farmers

00:44are now assessing the damage to their crops.

00:48The olive tree has destroyed everything. The vegetable garden has also been destroyed.

00:55Heavy rains caused severe flooding in many parts of the Spanish island of Mallorca.

01:01The island's airport in Palma grounded several flights and flooded the car parks. The heavy
