Delhi recorded an all-time high temperature of 52.9 degrees Celsius (127.22 Fahrenheit) on Wednesday (May 29) as extreme heat conditions gripped the north and western parts of India, sending people to seek shelter indoors.

00:41 Auto rickshaw drivers in Delhi waited in the stifling heat for customers as people mostly
00:47 stayed away from the streets to avoid the searing heat.
00:51 A spot of light rain in other parts of Delhi later on Wednesday brought some respite, and
00:56 weather officials expect the heat to ease later this week over northwest and central
