00:55 Rundown started off with the game last night,
00:57 game one, Boston Celtics versus the Pacers.
01:01 Overtime win, Donnie, you're the Boston guy,
01:03 so you can lead us off.
01:04 - Yeah, I mean, that game was just a constant heart attack.
01:07 I mean, it started off, I was like,
01:09 all right, this is gonna be a cakewalk,
01:12 but the Pacers can shoot.
01:14 I'll give them that much.
01:16 You give them open shots,
01:17 we weren't playing great defense the whole game,
01:19 and they got back into it, and all of a sudden,
01:21 it's like, holy shit, we're down by five
01:23 late in the fourth quarter.
01:25 But Tatum, I think, got that turnover
01:30 when Pacers were inbounding the ball,
01:34 which set up Jaylen Brown for the three.
01:37 Now, I don't know why the Pacers
01:38 didn't just foul Jaylen Brown before he shot the three.
01:42 He's not our best foul shooter,
01:45 so they fucked up there, but I'm glad they did.
01:49 Like, that was an electric game.
01:51 Both Tatum and Jaylen came up big when we needed them to.
01:54 We needed them to make those clutch shots, and they did.
01:58 But it should not have been that close at all,
02:02 and we suck at game twos, so who knows?
02:05 Hopefully we can break the streak on Thursday.

03:29 you're just kind of depressed in general.

03:40 But yeah, there's definitely varying levels
03:42 of disappointment.
03:43 This game, as far as it goes,
03:44 I'm happy to see a good start to a series.
03:48 You've had good series so far in this playoff,
03:50 but the games in between those series are not good.
03:53 It's been a weird playoffs.
03:54 Like we had two game sevens on Sunday.
03:56 Obviously the Minnesota one was really good,
03:59 but all the games in between,
04:01 like they were all blow-offs.
04:03 - Yeah.
04:03 - And so it's a weird playoffs
04:06 where it's exciting, but it's not.
04:09 So this was a genuinely exciting game one.
04:12 Hopefully, as obviously no dog in the fight,
04:14 I'm sure you would love a sweet.
04:16 I'm just hoping that this is the kind of shit
04:18 that keeps picking up and keeps the pace.
04:20 So good start.

04:24 He's been huge for us as the man,
04:26 especially with Porzingis out.
04:27 - So that's honestly just my hope
04:30 that we have some good series.
04:31 And I think Dallas and Minnesota will be good too.

04:36 Second story, the NFL are talking about implementing
04:39 electronically measured first downs.
04:41 They're gonna do a trial period here.
04:44 It sounds like for the preseason.
04:46 And then if it goes well,
04:48 they're gonna look to fully implement it
04:50 for the 2024 regular season.
04:53 Thoughts, Dave, on getting rid of the chain gang?
04:57 - See, it's a little different for me.
05:01 Like I used to be one of those people
05:03 who just detest change in sports.
05:05 And obviously as a baseball guy,
05:07 we hear a lot about it with the robot umpires,
05:11 robot strike zones, automated strike zones, all that.
05:14 But chain gangs, and I love like the Lou Piniella
05:17 getting into umpire's face part of the game,
05:20 that that's part of baseball,
05:22 just like a chain gang's part of football.
05:24 But in the end you want the correct call.
05:26 So like have the chain gang out there,
05:29 but have the technology available.
05:31 So like if they need it, then you can, you know,
05:36 like measure it to that nearest 10th of an inch
05:38 or whatever they're gonna be doing.
05:39 But a chain gang, like,
05:41 that's getting rid of like a part of the heart of football.
05:44 - Think about all the people that won't have jobs.
05:47 - They'll have chain gangers just out on the street.
05:52 They'd be working the prison chain gang.
05:56 - Yeah, and it's probably not just an easy transition.
06:01 These guys are used to just manually eyeballing it.

06:13 In Uganda, I had to play with a chain gang
06:16 that did not know how to work the lines.
06:19 They would just move it every time.
06:21 So you had to get 10 yards every play
06:24 in order to get a first down.
06:25 'Cause they would just keep, they just thought,
06:28 being chain gang means just move it with the ball.
06:30 So I'm still traumatized by that.

06:37 One, obviously I agree the chain gang is just a classic crew.
06:41 I don't, obviously they're never gonna probably implement
06:44 this at the high school level or the grammar school level
06:46 because that's where it's really just a couple dads
06:49 who, that's their time away from the concession stand
06:52 and their time to watch the game.
06:53 So I love a good chain gang,
06:55 especially when it's people's fathers just getting,

07:01 - I have an idea, if we get a robotic first downs,
07:05 we could still have a chain gang,
07:06 but it's more like a make a wish thing
07:08 where they hand it out to certain fans
07:10 and you can just pretend to be the chain gang for a game.

07:17 you just want them to get it right.
07:19 It's absolutely absurd at some of these goal line stands,
07:22 some of these fourth and inches,
07:23 that we are acting like these referees
07:26 can see what the fuck is going on.
07:27 - They can't, with how fast that game moves
07:29 and all the moving parts on the field.
07:32 - Yes, they can't.
07:33 - Just get the call right in the end.
07:34 - You can't correctly, especially now
07:35 the tush push is becoming something like,
07:37 there's just no way you can figure all that out.
07:40 - If the technology is available for you
07:42 to make the correct call,
07:44 you don't want a game ending on human error,
07:47 referee error, especially a big game.
07:50 So if the technology's available where you can eliminate
07:54 or curb that as much as possible,
07:57 then you have to lose it.
07:59 - But the third thing, I think we're going to miss
08:01 how electric it is when there's a big measurement
08:04 and the boys are walking out and the crowd goes wild
08:08 'cause they're short by a couple inches.

08:59 it's at the point where it's like 94%.
09:00 So umpires are getting better, but by the fan's eye,
09:05 it seems like they're getting worse year over year.
09:08 For especially the last few years,
09:10 it seems like umpiring has gotten very, very bad
09:13 and very lazy.
09:14 So I'm at the point where it should get rid of every umpire.

16:26 but there's this restaurant called Flower Power
16:29 on Chicago Ave, it's a newer place I think.
16:32 Makes their pasta fresh in the morning,
16:34 as soon as they're sold out for the day,
16:35 they close shop and it's supposed to be insanely good,
16:38 blah, blah, blah.
16:39 Apparently in Chicago, there was a group chat
16:43 of about 90 influencers in the Chicago food scene.
16:48 Obviously Chicago's a big foodie city
16:50 and if you follow these guys,
16:51 all of a sudden you would notice
16:52 that they would all be reviewing the same restaurants
16:55 in the same few days span.
16:56 Which I'm like, you don't think too much about it,
16:59 but apparently they all approach these restaurants.
17:02 They say, "Hey, we're coming in, we want the food free
17:04 "and we want you to pay us anywhere from $850 to $1,200
17:08 "on top of the review."
17:11 And they were apparently ganging up on this restaurant
17:14 'cause he's like, "No, piss off.
17:15 "I'll do it organically, everybody loves my spot.
17:18 "I'm not paying for that."
17:19 Like that's outrageous.
17:20 - Yeah.
17:21 - You know?
17:22 - Then they're like,
17:23 "Well, we'll come in and give you a bad review."
17:24 - That's exactly what they said.
17:25 So they ganged up on this guy.

17:27 - Then he started leaking all the exchanges saying like,
17:30 "Yeah, these guys are just trying to hustle all of us.
17:32 "Like this is what they're really doing."

17:35 - Like get real jobs, you fucking losers, you know?

17:38 - So yeah, this girl, absolutely like,
17:43 we don't have real jobs.
17:47 We're not sitting on a cube nine to five.

17:50 because we live fucking fantasy lives.
17:53 But like, so I can see why she would want to be a few
17:56 reviewer on Instagram or TikTok or whatever for money.

18:04 An influencer can do a lot of good things for local business.
