00:07 it took me a while to really like

00:10 understand if I really wanted to go to the Olympics or not

00:13 because I didn't like my brain was there but it wasn't

00:17 because I felt like if I go back,

00:20 what if I disappoint people if I go back,

00:22 they're going to think I need to do this that and the other.

00:23 So where that motto, I'm not girl came from was really,

00:26 you know, obviously Beyonce herself has said it.

00:29 That was one of her songs and you know,

00:31 and just seeing the resilience she had within herself to

00:35 become this amazing person, right?

00:37 She didn't have to

00:38 look back on other people's opinions.

00:40 She didn't have to do any of those things and kind of just

00:42 kept to herself.

00:43 So the pressure kind of weared off right now.

00:47 I'm just you know, I don't have to prove to anybody.

00:49 I'm always forever.

00:51 I'm going to be an Olympian whether I make the team or

00:53 don't make the team.

00:54 So I just really been taking that into, you know,

00:57 consideration and just again,

00:59 I'm not girl.

01:00 I'm just been living life doing everything that I can to stay

01:03 focused and also taking a day by day.

01:06 That's the best thing that any person can do right now,

01:08 whether it's with a sport, not a sport,

01:11 like just take it day by day.

01:12 I would say this, you only have one life to live.

01:15 We don't have nine lives like cats.

01:16 So yeah, we live it to the fullest as much as we can for

01:20 sure.

01:20 I really didn't like talk to her about it.

01:23 I mean, I brought it up, you know, some days there are

01:26 better than others when you're at practice.

01:28 So I think the real thing was we understand each other

01:32 whether we do have to talk to each other or not, you know,

01:34 we'll ask each other for okay,

01:36 especially, you know,

01:38 mental health is such a huge thing right now.

01:40 So we want to make sure everybody's okay in each and

01:42 every way,

01:43 but I really when it came to that I kind of kept that to

01:46 myself.

01:47 It was more so of like I told my parents or my siblings

01:51 because I really didn't know I was like,

01:53 what do I do?

01:55 Yeah, once it got closer.

01:58 I was like, nah, this is what I'm doing.

01:59 This is how we put everything into this.
